Guild Wars, Watch out you'll get hooked
RPG games, I use to hate them, couldnt be bothered with health, mana, energy and all the other stuff you had to balance,
Then my friend persuaded me to try Guild Wars,
WOW that was the end of my social life,
you can join a Guild or create your own, swap + buy and sell weapons, (pick something up for nothing then sell it for thousands, collect spells or buy them,
mix dyes to colour your clothes, design capes to wear,
earn money running people from place to place,
theres loads to do,
6 characters to choose from, then choose a second profession for them, like Warrior/monk, good at fighting and healing,
or have pets that fight with you,
there are no bad choices, just different styles to play the game,
Guild Wars is good fun, you don't have to be the best gamer in the world to go far, keeps you hooked for ages,
if you make a mistake, no problem, just try it again,
there are places for the so called elite to go an try there skills, and get rewarded for doing so, with money and weapons
Plenty of people willing to help if you get stuck,
would recommend this to anyone,
even my friend likes it, and he can't stand Role Playing Games,
Give it a try, you won't regert it (+ there is no monthly fee)
The cream of online gaming!
Probably the most 'adult' of all the online RPG's due to the fact that's there's actually a story here! Yes, there's PvP too but if 'fragging' and kill numbers aren't your thing, there's a loving crafted, old-style adventure with gorgeous graphics and interesting people to meet, fight with or kill!
You can choose to go through the whole thing on your own (but it's very hard!) or, just find a couple of willing teammates and take on the world together! It's popular, mainly due to the fact that it's free once you've bought the pack. Thanks to the clever server organisation, you can move to a less crowded area if you want. This is only an issue in towns and cities because once you embark on one of the many, many quests, there's just you and your team, whether human or computer controlled. No getting bounced by twelve-year old terrorists here! No getting your hard won treasure nicked by maraudering gangs of teenies either!
If you've never online gamed, do it Guild Wars, you'll be hooked!
Will take over your life and then suddenly get boring.....
I can honestly say that Guild Wars (original) took over my life for almost 4-5 months. I absolutely loved the game play, the maps, the monsters and the idea of building up your own guild or joining an exsiting one and working your way up the ranks.
I used to play on line games such as Call of Duty (1 and 2), Far Cry, Unreal Tournament, Warcraft and Rome-Total War, but when I had quenched my thirst for killing enemies and releived my boredom I would leave the PC after a few hours. When I played Guild Wars I was addicted almost twenty four/seven and could not tear myself away from the computer. It is the most addictive game I have ever played.
If you fancy a game that will take a little time (to move up the levels), fight with other on line players in groups of up to 8 and love fantsay this is the game for you.
There are however 2 downfalls.
(1) When you play Guild versus Guild or PvP, once you have built up your character its very hard at first to win any battles due to very experienced players knowing how to counter act every thing you do... It will take you a while to become good, and this is the problem, by that time you are getting pretty bored, which leads onto point (2)
(2) It just gets boring once you have played it with a few different characters and have leveled them up. It will take a while before you do get bored and I think you will get bored of any game after a while but there is something missing in the game to counter act this boredom for experienced players. There needs to be new quests added from time to time, or new areas put on the map, or new monsters etc... There needs to be a way you can go higher up the levels other than 20, as once you get there its a major anti climax.
However I would recommend this game, trust me you will be totally addcited with minutes of installing it on your PC.
