Customer Reviews
4 outstanding tracks, the rest a bit jazzy for me but worth a listen
Got this as I liked the singles Switch it on, All time love and Who am I. It's worth getting for those tracks, which are excellent. Keep On is also a good track. The rest is worth a listen. It's a well made album and most people should find at least half a dozen tracks they like on it.
Keep On
Bought this C.D. as I keep hearing his records in the shops, so I decided to listen to more of Will Young, and I was'nt disappointed, great music, fabulous voice, carn't stop playing it, I also bought Fridays Child which is equally as good, Will Young has come a long way since Pop Idol,
it's only 5 stars because i cannot do 100 stars!
Having followed Mr Young throughout Pop Idol and the massive phenomenon that you could call his career following, I think that this makes me qualified enough to review this master piece.
I own all three of Will's albums, all singles (where applicable, both versions of the C. D.) and the Pop Idol Big Band Album and the Mrs Henderson Presents album (and while I'm on the subject I've got the books and DVD's as well) and I can honestly say, hand on heart, that as that Will is getting better with age. This album is a million times better than the rushed to release debut, From Now On.
Will took a year off to work on this album, and to be fair, it shows. As soon as the first track starts up, you are under his spell. Then on to 'Switch It On' which is an art to itself. Possibly, Will's best song yet. But, if you are fortunate enough to get passed that track, without your player getting put onto repeat, you will LOVE this C. D.
If you can get your hands on the Duel Disc version, get it. The video clips are really funny. Some would say a waste of disc space. But, they're mistaken. It all goes to making this album the best album I have had the pleasure of listening to a million times.
During Pop Idol, before Will reached the final ten, Simon Cowell said of one of Will's performances was "totally normal. In the conext of the show... it wasn't good enough". Now, I'm left here wondering... Where are all the other Reality Show winners, runners up, etc? Washed up on the beach at Margate I ashume.
So Mr Cowell, listen to this album, if you dare, and see whether you STILL think Will's "Distinctly Average".
