Customer Reviews
Excellent.
Shopping around for an 'Ideal' home cinema kit on the internet can be daunting. There are many brands, prices, and packages it can be hard to pinpoint on one product that you will enjoy in the home. So one day I took the plunge and ordered the SV410.
Out of the box, you can see a high quality build, the speakers are weighty and don't look or feel cheap, so it will look great next to your new shiny HDTV. The Sub is enclosed in a wooden chassis to a great finish, none of these 'Plastic Subs'. Hooking them up to your kit is fairly easy; the wires go up underneathe the speaker stands so if they are in the four corners of your room you won't see the wires comimg up from the carpet, a big plus, hiding wires for smaller speakers can be tricky.
Then the sound itself. In all fairness I have not listened to 'Standard Quality', I bought this with the Sony STR-DA1200ES Amp, and the sound coming out of this 5.1 system is fantastic. They can go very loud without distorting, and the bass is punchy and fits in very well with what is going on in the music track/film. I highly recommend buying an Amp for it, you can fine tune your sound so that you can enjoy this excellent speaker set. If you have a budget of around £550-600, like I did, then get this with a good Amp (like the one above) and you won't be dissapointed.
classy speakers
finally took the plunge and ordered a set online. did not order from Amazon as they were silver and black finish. the ones i ordered were black all over, with a classy brushed aluminium finish. the finish on these is a black anodised finish, not paint, so even a small scratch would not show up as badly as if they were paint finish.
I looked all over the internet for a set of speakers to match my ONKYO 606 amp and PANASONIC television, both of which are black finish, and these speakers were the ones i chose and they match perfectly.
No tacky stands with a bog box on top looking ugly and wires trailing all over the place, just slim, elegant speakers with no wires showing.
the sound quality is as good as i had hoped.
listening to Transformers on TRUE HD is mindblowing, as the sound from the opening sequences with the stars, travels round the room and is crystal clear.
I had several auditions to listen to other speaker sets at twice the price or more at audio shops, and can honestly say that these are as good as the ones i heard.
best of all, the wife likes them, unlike the box type on stands
go ahead and buy them, you will not be disappointed.
Some good, some bad...
Overall, the product is of relatively good value. The product description is somewhat misleading to those who are not experts in speakers (like myself). The system is not self-sufficient; it cannot be directly connected to a sound output (e.g., tv, ipod, computer, ... etc.), and the powered sub-woofer does not power the speakers. It requires an amplifier and appropriate cabling.
As for the speakers and subwoofer, the quality and look is pretty good. The speakers are not particularly powerful, especially in handling lower frequency sounds. The sub-woofer is quite powerful, though.
Overall, I purchased a pioneer audio receiver and some cables (for a price similar to the speakers themselves), and now have a pretty good set-up. It did cost me 2 times as much as I thought it would, though.
