Some Kinda... Talent
One of the more encouraging prospects to have emerged from the R'n'B scene in recent times, the big question for Dwele with this second album was, could he build on the promise of first album Subject ?

On the basis of Some Kinda, the answer is a definite yes. From the opening beats of "Holla" to the closing introspection of "Old Lovas", Dwele once more takes us on a voyage seamlessly encompassing an eclectic array of styles, whilst maintaining his characteristic cool demeanour. Thus we can appreciate the jazzy feel of "A Pimp's Dream" and the sublimely gorgeous "Wake The Baby", the hip-hop of "Keep On" and the poppy "Know Your Name", amongst others. What is especially pleasing is the sustained strength of his song-writing: confident, smooth, erudite and versatile throughout, with not a single weak track in evidence.

In all, Dwele has succeeded where others have often failed: to produce a sophomore album that can stand up to- and maybe even exceed- the quality of the first. Hopefully, his combination of classic and contemporary black music traditions, pop nous and singer-songwriter consciousness should stand him in good stead in the future, as he seeks to follow the way paved by the likes of Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys. And best of luck to him, for he has the potential to achieve it.

R&B + Soul + Jazz = Neo Soul
This guy is a Neo Soul pioneer....an absolute master!!

I personally listen to a very wide range of music but this album is an stormer of a hit!! Its his best to date.

I had very high expectations of this artist after the great success of his 2nd album (first one was "Rize" initially but public released but can be procured of the amazon.com site I think) so perhaps I came in from a slightly bias angle - however, Dwele does not disappoint!

If you heard his first album - Dwele continues to take his listeners to new heights of Neo Soul divinity with his unique blend of beats, harmony, poetry, and combination of musical instruments! He does one track with reowned Jazz artist Boney James...an excellent track!

This is is definetely not just a chillin CD but one you'll play again and again and again. You'll end up wanting to buy his previous albums afterwards which are also timeless!
