Editorial Reviews
From the Label
Xmas isn't just a time for bad presents, family feuds, food poisoning and The Great Escape... there's Chrismas Songs too!
As ever, Now have got the best of the bunch so forget all thoughts of popping a couple of satsumas in a sock and persuading your brother to give you that scalextric and listen to the peacenik anthem "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" by John & Yoko And The Plastic Ono Band With The Harlem Community Choir instead.
Xmas is a time for giving so whack on Band Aid 20 - "Do They Know It's Christmas", drink a toast to Kylie Minogue - "Santa Baby" & cosy up with your brother's girlfriend to Bing Crosby - "White Christmas".
All the biggies are here, from Slade - "Merry Xmas Everybody" and Wizzard - "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday" to Jona Lewie - "Stop The Cavalry" and ace crooner Dean Martin with "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!"
Customer Reviews
Great but...
This is a great CD, obviously for Christmas. But whatever you do...DON'T PUT IT ON REPEAT! You will soon go insane having this on repeat, unless you love Christmas songs. We bought this to put in a jukebox over Christmas, and it was constantly on! Its good if you are having family round, as maybe background music, but loudly, it would drive you insane...
Its Christmaaaaaaaaaaaaas!!
Most Christmas CD's have some songs that I always skip, but not this one. It had all my favourites from the classics (Slade's Merry Christmas Everyone and Wizzard I wish it could be christmas every day) to some newer ones (The Waitresses Christmas Wrapping and Band Aid 20)
Overall a great album with all your festive faves.
Would be 5 if it wasn't for the shocking Michael Ball cover!
This is a great all-round xmas album and has something for everyone, I just couldn't give it 5 stars because of one major flaw: they put a cover of Chris Rea's 'Driving Home For Christmas' by Michael Ball which is absolute Karaoke (in fact the music is exactly the same as the original) compared to Chris Rea's gravelly voiced awesomeness on the original.
If only this CD had 'Fairytale of New York' and kicked out 'Do They Know It's Christmas' it would be complete! The biggest PLUS of this album : it contains probably one of the best ever 80's xmas anthems: The Waitress' 'Christmas Wrapping'!!!
