Buy if you want to increase your inventory4
It's probably easiest to tell from the box that this is more of an add-on than an expansion pack, the pictures are simply the graphics from the original "The Sims 2" box with a few party hats and mistletoe slapped on. Also that fact that you don't need a CD-Key to install it.

With this disc you get a stack of new items, a few new Body Shop items and the option to throw a New Year's Bash should the mood take you. Also a few other amusing interations with objects that I have yet to try but have heard a few funny things about.

For less than £10 I don't think that this is a bad add-on pack at all, at least if you only expect it to be an add-on pack and not a full-blown expansion set like University, Nightlife or Open for Business. If you are looking for content to change and zest your Sims lives up then this probably would not be the best choice, if you are looking for some new items and don't have the internet connection to download (or just don't like custom content) then this is more for you.

.. Or you could be like me and be a collector nut that has to have everything :D This would be good for you too!

Fun for a short while.3
This isn’t a bad addition for your Sims as long as you don’t expect an expansion pack along the lines of Sims University/ Nightlife. What you are buying is a disc that provides new outfits and goodies for your Sims to enjoy, such as Christmas trees, presents, festive lights, wreaths, decorations and so on. You can now cook a holiday feast and receive a visit from Santa too. Just make sure that you have a fire alarm installed before you put the Christmas tree lights on…oh, and don’t pet the electric reindeer.
This is an add-on that is limited in its interest, fun at Christmas for a few days but not interesting enough to keep the interest levels high for long. Still, it is a low price, and it’s always good to add to the Sims inventory.

Good novelty value... not value for money3
I don't believe for one moment that Maxis are short on cash, however their latest expansion pack leaves me somewhat baffled.

When you first install Christmas Party Pack you are given a few new objects to play around with your Sims to celebrate Christmas. However there is no new gameplay or cutscenes and so i am a little disappointed at what Maxis have given us. I dont really think this is worth the money, especially considering half of the objects are available for FREE download on the Sims 2 OFFICIAL website.

However, it does spice up your Sims for christmas time and does carry a large novelty value... even if it is only for a few days.

My advice: wait till it comes down in price a bit.
