RULE
A greatest hit for the ja man already? Well why not? Ja Rule has enjoyed a colourful career, colaborating with some of the biggest names in the game including Jay Z, R Kelly, Ashanti and J Lo to name but a few.
For many years now Ja Rule has been serving up upbeat hip-hop mixed with more gritty tracks. We see this in the difference between tracks like Wonderful, Mesmorize, Living it up and New York (with Fat Joe) and Its Murder. Other huge tracks like Always on time (with ashanti) and aint it funny (wit j lo) are all present and correct. One strange ommision however would be The Riegn, im not sure why this is not on the album as i believe this was one of his greatest hits, but i suppose we can live without it.
As standard for greatest hits there are 3 previously unreleased tracks here. However these hardly set the world alight and cant touch some of his better stuff. Overall a very good album, a should have for any hip-hop fan.
My 1st review
well its just a greatest hits album really with 3 new tracks on it. i have exodus both of them an they arent really anything special im afraid. i feel he's just trying to do an eminem type thing like curtain call.
apparrently exodus was supposed to be a two disc album following up to last temptation but that dint happen and we got R.U.L.E. oh well i guess.
i have only gave it 4 stars because i do like his old tracks tnat he's put on there
A Huge Surprise
This album blew me away. I started getting into rap with Em and 50. These guys dissed Ja loads and I just took there word for it despite the fact that I hadn't really listen to any of his stuff. I always wanted to hear clap back and after hearing New York and liking it I bought this as it had both tracks. I wasn't expecting much and in the end I loved it. Here's a list of the tracks and score.
Exodus (intro): I thought it would be a skit but it's a full blown track. It is Ja telling everyone he's finishing and is such a great track with a sweet beat. 9.5/10
Me: A sweet party track with a bouncy beat would have been a great single. 9/10
Holla, Holla. Really hate it. The beat is one of the worst ever; I could have made a better one myself. 3.5/10
Its murda (DMX,Jay-z): Amazing dark gothic beat. DMX. Jay-z. Such a rap with Ja showing what he can really do. 9.5/10
Put it on me (Vita): Really bouncy beat with a sweet verse by Vita. A real nice song for the ladies. 9.5/10
I cry (lil' Mo): really don't feel this song 5/10
Livin' it up: almost equal to in da club. So good. 9.5/10
Always on time (Ashanti): like candy shop but 10 times as good. 10/10
Isn't it funny (j-lo feat Ja rule + Caddillac Tah). Ja spits a 20 second verse on this
song I have no idea why its here. Personally I don't count as being part of the album. A 9/10 song for J-lo though.
Thug lovin' (bobby brown): One of the best produced songs on the albums. The
verses are good but the beat is just WOW. 10/10
Mesmerize (Ashanti): A great duet but Ashanti outshines ja a bit but that not much to care about. 9.5/10
Clap back: Best beat on the album. Such a diss to 50. The song blew me away. It
definitely put Ja ahead in the 50 Ja beef 10/10
New York (Fat Joe,Jadakiss): It's like a newer "It's murda" class synthesizer beat with great verse by Jada and Joe. 9.5/10
Wonderful (R. Kelly,Ashanti) really catchy R&B style song 9.5/10
Never again. Ja in top form with such a chorus 10/10
Daddy's Little Baby (Ronald Isley). Really bad chorus and beat. 4/10
Love me, Hate me: A grower great song and beat, means alot considering Ja's hated on so much. 10/10
Exodus (outro): this could have been the best song on the album if he hadn't talked in some bits of it but still serves as a great outro. The beginning is sweet until he talks but is still class. 9.5/10
Overall this album is one of the best I own in the rap genre. G-unit should stop dissing the only one better than Ja is Buck with his album. This is his greatest hits though so he has had six albums worth of songs to choose from so is a bit unfair on G-unit. It is still an amazing album worth buying to add to any rap collection. A great end to his current career. I will be checking out more of his Stuff as well as the rest of Murder INC. 50 doesn't know what
he's talkin' bout. Remember,
IT'S MURDAAAAAAAA.............
