Mary Mary's 2005 self-titled album, their third release, finds sisters Tina and Erica Atkins returning in fine form after a three-year hiatus. Known for their energetic take on contemporary gospel, the dynamic duo cranks up the spiritual party several notches on MARY MARY, drawing not only on neo-R&B grooves, but on swing, mainstream pop, and club-oriented dance music ("The Real Party" even tips its hat to four-on-the-floor house beats). Yet even though Mary Mary's sound is big, inclusive, and immediately catchy--with its hip-shakingrhythms and hook-filled melodies--their Christian message never dims. Songs like "Believer", "Heaven", and "Speak to Me" reveal the sisters' unwavering commitment to spreading theword. GOOD ALBUM, DO NOT BUY THIS CD!
Unfortunately, this cd is difficult to import onto iTunes and it will DESTROY your hard drive (TRUST ME). The reason being that the record label, SONY have copy protected it. Whilst I appreciate the need for Sony to do this in order to prevent copyright fraud etc, it is affecting those of us who want the versatile use of our cds. I am pretty sure that some will be able to import this cd through some means, but I for one am not prepared to do that.
So DO NOT Buy it unless you want to use it on your cd player ONLY. I would have given this album a 4 star rating, if I could import it, but since I cannot, I am giving it 2 stars. This is such a shame since Mary Mary are good artists. In the meantime, I won't be buying any more of their cds or any other artists signed up to Sony until this is sorted out, as I am not prepared to buy the cd version and the downloadable one as well.
Pure praise and worship!
Mary Mary is to me one of the best in gospel. This album shouts worship and praise and is not to be taken lightly. They make no mistake in stating that they are praising the Lord, unlike most gospel music where you never hear the word Jesus or Lord being said. The music is catchy yet reverent and even my 3 year old sings along.
This cd has everything you could ask. Definitely wort buying! I'll definitely be buying their new one.
