Surprisingly Very Good4
I bought this DVD on a whim and it's actually very good.
There is a warm-up which is about ten minutes then there is a choice of three levels of workout.
Level one is for beginners or for those who haven't worked out for a while - there are squats, boxing, pressups etc but no weights are used. It lasts about 15 minutes
Level two has fat burning and concetrates on the lower body using some light weights.
Level three has more fat burning and concetrates on the upper body using a combination of light and heavier weights.
There are also three five minute "blasts" for the upper body, abs and lower body as well as a cooldown.
Level one is really quite easy and I did it without a sweat. Level three isn't any harder than level two in my opinion, but just focuses on a different part of the body.
I have worked out quite a lot before and found that I could do the whole DVD (warm-up, all three levels, the three blasts and the cooldown) in one go which takes about 90 minutes, but there is a 6-week plan which guides which bits to do on each day. Doing it all in one go is a really effective workout and combined with some regular cardio it will make a big difference.
Don't buy it if you think you are going to get an aerobics DVD - it is mainly a "sculpting" workout - lunges, squats, weights etc.
Kirsty is actually very pleasant during the workout and not too distracting. Her instructor is nice and explains things very clearly, demonstrating things before we join in. He also counts down most of the time which helps (although he sometimes gets it wrong). However, because he is so calm it isn't very motivational. I need a bit of shouting at to spur me on!
There is also a nutritional section at the end which is a bit of a waste to be honest. Kirsty interviews her mother, but we just get advised to eat lots of fruit and veg, drink lots of water and not drink too much alcohol. It is probably the time Kirsty comes across as most annoying - she says things like "So what should people who work in shops and factories do about food and exercise?" like they are the little people or something. I found it a bit patronising.
Another criticism is that the abs section is far too short - there is only the five minute blast that has any sit-ups at all, so I've just been doing that two or three times.
All-in-all, a very good buy and I'll certainly be sticking with it, along with Nell McAndrew and Davina McCall's DVDs.

A really good workout5
I've read the reviews about this DVD and I'm surprised that is has a few poor ratings.

I purchased this DVD after reading a good review in national fitness magazine, and I have to say I find it a really good workout.

I've been following Kirtsy's 6 week training plan for the last 3 weeks and I can't tell you how much more toned I'm starting to look. I've lost 2 inches off my chest, 3 inches off my waist and 3 inches off my hips.

Kirsty's personality is relaxed during the DVD and I must say I really warmed to her attitude. You can clearly see that she doesn't find the workout easy either!!

I have loads of other fitness DVD's, but this one has jumped to the top of the pile and is definitely in my top 3.

you get out what you put in.4
I have to disagree with some of the comments made on this DVD. i wasnt expecting much from it but was surprised to some extent. i lost 6 stone just doing Barbara Curries yoga videos so i guess i'm pretty lucky anyway but trust me theres still room for improvement on the 'leftovers'. so i thought i'd go for a bit of sculpting, already into Power/Ashanga yoga i already have the strength.

i have been working with weights for some time but i do tend to give up on the reps a bit early i guess. This helps with the counting and slacking aspect and after doing it, 5 days a week for two weeks now, and thats the full hour and a half with a 5kg weight on some bits, 2kg free weights and a bottle when i'm tired, beleive me, i've noticed it.

so i guess if you adapt it, stick at and put as much in as you can with video, it will work. you only get out of something, what you put in. In regards to the trainer being unfit, yeah, that concerned me too, but really, he only has a double chin and his legs are muscley, this guy has worked with top atheletes, Tim Henman being one of them. Its true to say that by the time trainers become trainers, they have stopped all the work themselve and are now passing on their knowledge.

Fact on sweating too - its not always the unfit that sweat...top atheletes start sweating almost immediately as their body realises they are about to work it and put stress on it!

This video can seem repetitive but thats what doing reps is about, it youre after a varied workout, try some yoga too as it really kicks the metabolism into speed, meaning you work harder without knowing it. worked for me.
