Editorial Reviews

CD Description
Second album from enormously popular Ohio emo band is the follow up to 2004's 'The Silence In Black And White', whose 750,000 copies sold makes it Victory Records' most successfulalbum ever. Without shying away from the relatively formulaic pop-metalcore they peddled on their debut, on this release they have tightened up their sound and smoothed out the rough edges, whilst continuing to explore the technical possibilities of their three-guitar lineup. Available with two alternative covers.

Hawthorne Heights- If Only You Were Lonely- Album Review5

This is definitely my favourite album from the American hard rock stars, Hawthorne Heights. It captures many different moods, using songs written to give a variety of styles of heavy rock. Most of the songs have heavy beats and are written in a heavy, awakening style, whereas there are a few songs that are more relaxing, soft and easy to listen to.
The best songs on the album are "This Is Who We Are" and "I Am On Your Side" in my opinion, though there is not one single song on this album that I dislike. These songs have catchy tunes that I always find myself singing along to because they are so great that they really stick in your head.
Just as we expect from Hawthorne Heights and Victory Records, the vocals are clear (along with the occasional screams); the drums, guitar and bass are played to maximum standards; and all the music on this album in good quality.
The lyrics in all of these songs are deep and meaningful. They are mostly about relationships that have not worked out, and how they regret things and could have done everything differently. It is easy to sympathise with these lyrics, though they tell interesting stories.
The style of Hawthorne Heights greatly appeals to me, but not to all people. I would strongly recommend purchasing this album if you are into gothic rock, emo or post hard core style music. I enjoy listening to "If Only Your Were Lonely" when I want to sit back, relax and have a good time.

a very good album5
previously i had heard of hawthorne heights but never actually listened to them, once i got to university i was introduced to this band (among others) and fell in love instantly! my good friend jason bought their album having heard one song 'light sleeper' and i called him a fool, but once i had listened to it i agreed with him, this band have a good future ahead of them!

the whole album is of a high standard, there are no duff songs and every one has something going for it. personal favourites include, 'we are so last year' and 'light sleeper'

listen to this and then listen to their slightly harder less user friendly album 'the silence in black and white'

They got better4
This album has less out-of-place screaming and is more melodic on the whole than the last album. This means it's alot better, as one of the things holding back the last album was the lousy screaming.
