Manufacturer's Description
To increase the sound output of a notebook with up to 200%, there is no need to do any concessions to mobility! The Trust USB Speaker Set SP-2750p is specially designed for use with a notebook and enables the user to carry a powerful speaker set in the same bag as the laptop. In spite of its small size, the integrated amplifier powered though the attached USB cable produce a powerful sound and bass tones without requiring a power adapter or mains power. The 100-20.000 Hz frequency range and a signal-to-noise ratio of 100dB ensure ''hiss-free'' high fidelity audio. The USB speaker set is magnetically shielded for positioning near the monitor and comes with a multi language user's manual.

Not as good as reviews suggest
I recently bought these speakers for a laptop - and to be honest the internal laptop speakers are better (and they arent up to much) - Maybe I was expecting too much given previous reviews. I found sound is tinny, theres a major lack of bass and the maximum volumn level I could get out of them was pretty poor.
But I suppose at the price its a case of getting what you pay for.
Cheap and cheerful
Have to agree with the reviews below. Bought these so my wife could listen to Youtube videos on her ancient Pentium III (no sound card of any description, but with an add-on USB 2 card in it). Plugged in, XP recognised and installed USB sound without any fuss, worked straight away.
You have to have realistic expectations of the sound quality, but it is more than acceptable in a home environment for non-critical listening. Remarkable considering the size and price.
I think these are designed for laptop use, so the USB cable that runs from one of the speakers to the PC is a bit on the short side if you're plugging it into a PC under a desk, but if that's an issue extension cables are cheap enough.
Works great on Linux
Just arrived today and I am very pleased. The speakers are nice and small (just bigger than my small fist) and the sound is great considering the price. Loud and clear enough for listening to music and movies on the go while not loud enough to annoy any neighbours.
Up and running in seconds on my Ubuntu Linux (v 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon) laptop choosing System -> Preferences -> Sound and setting each of the drop down menus to the newly available 'USB Audio'.
It just works!
