Synopsis
Howards' Way was the BBC's answer to the wave of glamorous dramas coming out of the States in the Eighties like Dallas and Dynasty. With a backdrop of a booming boatyard, and characters drawn from the business and yachting set of the fictional south-coast town of Tarrant, this is Thatcher-era TV at its finest: aspirational, entrepeneurial and full of conspicuous consumption. Through the programme's run the plots got wilder, the bed-hopping more frantic and the shoulder-pads grew ever wider. This DVD contains every episode from the penultimate fifth series.

Roll on series 2
Had missed the odd episode when this saga was first shown on TV, but now I have been able to fill in the gaps and am so pleased that this series has been made into a DVD. I just could not stop watching it and cannot wait for the next series. I do hope that it won't be long before we can see series 2.
Howards Way - At Last!
One of the BBC's most expensive programmes to be recorded at the time - now on DVD.
It's a wonderful nostalgia trip and captures the essence of the 1980's.
Great to have it in my DVD collection...looking forward to the release of the remainder of the series
more than just old water!
What can one say it was the glorious 1980s or at least halfway through!!
Jan harvey and not "Jan francis" as the sky info insert slipped out recently lol.
the howard family are devastated by the news that Tom howard has been made redundent by southern aviation, and so ensues quite a modestly glamourous affair.
It is not a soap in the stricktest sense, more an adult drama of the 7.00 clock at night ilk.
stars tony anholt dulcie gray glyn owen maurice coulbourne ivor danvers patricia shakesby cindy shelly etc
a true gem worth watching some funny moments through out the 6 series currently showing on uk tv drama
not as dated as one might think it is filmed in film and video which looks a little archive in nature but does not spoil this glorious drama.
