Despite all the big name titles announced for the PS3, so far none has caused quite so much excitement as the new Metal Gear Solid, but then that's not surprising when it features the best graphics ever seen on a home console. A direct sequel to Metal Gear Solid 2 (the third one was a prequel), this newest game in the series is set in the near future where Solid Snake has become an old man before his time thanks to the FOXDIE virus. He's still more than enough for most bad guys though as he battles Middle Eastern mercenaries led by Liquid Ocelot.
What role the shadowy Patriots play in the game is not clear, but one element of the storyline seems to be Snake's attempts to erase his cloned genes from the world, with one controversial sequence showing him contemplating suicide. A whole host of other characters from previous games in the series are set to return too, including Colonel Campbell, Otacon, Naomi Hunter, Raiden and Meryl Silverburgh - although as ever their exact agendas are cloaked in mystery.
As widely reported the game's motto is "no place to hide" with no hiding place remaining safe for long thanks to not only the highly intelligent enemies but also the fact that the battlefield is regularly being blown up around you. This won't happen just because enemies are firing at you though, with buildings being toppled simply from the sound of a nearby explosion. Sensibly the game uses the new third person camera system from Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, as well as an expanded close quarters combat system and online modes. All of which should make it the definitive next generation console game.

IF MGO ONLINE IS ANYTHING TO GO BY...........
After quite an ordeal downloading and setting up the Beta of Metal Gear Online all I can say is....I'm really looking forward to MGS4. If MGO is anything to go by, which gives away alot as it is based entirely on the MGS4 engine then we are all in for a treat.
Snake is back and this time he's in for the greatest battle of his video game life!!
The character models, movements and sheer amount of in game detail are so far very impressive. And if anyone has played the beta for MGO online then they should have already had a taste of the new Snake. As he is a playable character. Man, does he kick ass. And for an old guy too.
Only a month to go and then we'll all be in Metal Gear Heaven!!!

Could this be the best ever game made?
after playing some demos and reading up on this game , can it be the best game ever made, quite simply all the over metel gear soilds have been great with really good story lines , action, they last longer than a week and are always the leading game in what to look for in future games ie: The A I and new software. So i can clearly say this will be the best game on any console for the next couple of years enjoy!
