Pittsburgh punks Anti-Flag take on subjects like the Iraq war, the World Trade Organization, and uranium-tipped bulletsin a set that's as full of energized rock & roll as it is of committed political diatribes. "Hymn for the Dead" packs acaustic lyrical punch, while "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" crams a wealth of political theory into a slamming slab of punk rock.

Customer Reviews
Outstanding!
The long-awaited new album from political punks Anti-Flag doesn't fail to deliver everything you would expect. Throughout 13 sublime tracks you are educated, enlightened, and made furious! Anti-Flag have really gone for the jugular on this album, attacking obvious targets such as the war-hawks in America and the mainstream-media who broadcast their lies, to ordinary people who choose to ignore what is going on on their planet. By highlighting issues such as the genocide that is STILL occurring in genocide (not that you hear anything about that in the news anymore) and the mutagenic effect of armaments used by America in Afghanistan and Iraq they are raising issues that we should be aware of and that we should be furious about and should be doing something about!!!
Every track on this album is a classic, the lyrics are sharp and incisive and the music is amazing, the band have really hit their stride on this album. AF are advocates of educating the people of this world, to open their eyes so they can see the oppression and injustice that is dealt out every day in our name.
Listen. Learn. Dissent.
More good stuff from Anti-Flag!
You know what you'll get from Anti-Flag: straightforward, unpretentious punk, bristling with political fervour. This album doesn't disappoint by delivering more of the same.
This is the first album released by Anti-Flag on a major label. I'm sure a lot of Anti-Flag fans like myself were worried this would dilute their music and message. Thankfully that hasn't happened.
While in my opinion the songs on this album lack some of the spark of earlier albums, their message is louder and clearer than ever. Like their previous album The Terror State, For Blood and Empire includes a substantial booklet which contains short essays on the topic of each song. It also provides links to interesting websites and resources. Anti-Flag have made it their mission to inform and encourage fans of their music to act to stop Bush and the neo-cons in their tracks.
The album in fact is like a mini-catalogue of the injustices being wreaked on innocent people by the wealthy and powerful: songs like The WTO Kills Farmers and Depleted Uranium Is A War Crime go to the heart of this.
I would recommend this album to all punk fans. Also buy it for people you know who need to wake up and recognise what is happening to this world!
