Customer Reviews

ALO4
Bought this CD after seeing the band give an absolutely awesome live performance, and it was definitely worth it. From the outstanding 'Girl I Wanna Lay You Down' right the way through the rest of the tracks, the album really is amazing. Worth the money.

DON'T BE PUT OFF BY THE NAME!!!5
Ok, I know the name is a little, well, crap, but don't judge a book by its cover! ALO are as hot as the playboy mansion, and as smooth and creamy as the voice of Barry White. A band discovered by the legendary Jack Johnson, it's quite difficult to go wrong. They combine soul and hip-swinging funk and the outcome is 11 tracks of chilled brilliance. The opening track Spectrum is country-esque, with jazz piano and poignant lyrics. The album gets better and better, and the vocalist Zach Gills has the same mellow edge as Mr. E. Beyond perfection, an ideal choice for a chilled out morning.

the liberators of animals and mankind alike5
Ok so you're chilling out on one of the most beautiful beaches in Calfornia gently submitting to the understated harmonies of the effortlessly talented Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, or maybe Xavier Rudd. The musical delights are surely there, but this year a new and eccentrically brilliant band has arrived!! ALO or Animal Liberation Orchestra. Their debut mainstream album is virtually flawless, making its progress from the funkiness of wasting time, the anthemic 'girl I wanna lay you down,' and 'pobrecito,' to the Ocean's elevenesque intrigue of 'the gardener' and 'the fly.' The one blip is perhaps 'Waiting for Jaden,' an annoyingly loopy number that stresses me out with its urgency; just when I thought it was serious lay-back time! Nevermind, this album is genius and will impress anyone looking to feel warm and summery! check out Zach Gill's vocals, very Erci Clapton like.
