Manufacturer's Description
This version of the Viewtiful one features several VFX powers including some that are touch screen specific. You don't need to use your stylus, in fact, your finger is recommended. One of the new powers is called "scratch" and you do exactly that on the touch screen to bring props and production equipment falling from the sky onto your enemies. There's also "split" a puzzle mechanism that lets you slow down time, draw a line on the screen and then rearrange objects on the top part of the split. This allows you to do things like move a safe from a shelf to over your enemy's head. That's a headache when it comes crashing down. The big payoff comes via the "Joe Camera." This move lets you pull down the upper screen (the one that's giving you close-ups of your action on the bottom screen) to literally give Joe a helping hand. You may need to flip a switch to open a door, but you need a close up of the switch to access it. Once you pull the screen down, you can use your finger (or stylus of course) to flip the switch.

AKA Viewtiful Joe Scratch
This game captures the feel of the "2003 USA Today Game of the Year" original and it's sequel gloriously. Now multiply it by two.
Double Trouble does what no other DS game has done so far and displayed 2 views of the same action in 3D. In truth, we could have done with out it and doubled the frame rate of the bottom screen but alas, it is still a great game. This is a very impressive game graphically. The cell shading is awesome and very close to it's Gamecube counterpart.
It is more puzzle oriented than its console bretheren whose focus is on the fighting. This is by far not a negative since the touch screen is put to use in very imaginative ways. Dragging your finger across the touch screen to cut the scene and place it in a way that favors you? Classic Clover Studio imagination at work here. Need to extinguish a fire? Slice the screen and take the fire hydrant to under it to kill it.
To keep things short, if you love sidescrolling brawlers, this game is for you. If you like innovation, this game is for you. If you like Viewtiful Joe, why don't you have this game yet?
Beautiful Viewtiful
This is one of the most impressive DS titles currently on offer. For a handheld console of DS specs, the graphics across both screens are of amazing quality - vibrant, crisp and fluid.
The developers have fully maximised the touch screen capabilities - it's not just a lazy port of the Gamecube offerings. Touch screen VFX powers include scratch, split and slide, all of which are cleverly employed whether fighting evil Madow clowns or solving the perfectly crafted puzzles. The player is encouraged to use their finger rather than juggling the stylus, adding to the superb gameplay.
Auto-save is a useful feature, as you can return to the last episode you were on before having had to dash off somewhere without reaching a proper break point. In addition, there are two hardness levels, kids and adults, to cater for novices and veterans alike.
Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble is a gem!
