A great online shooter
This is an excellent way to start online gaming. The action is fast frantic, and unlike counterstrike if die you don't have to wait for the game to end before you get another try. Also the weapons are well balanced, and the ability of STEAM to keep track of where friends are playing so you can join them is a bonus. But you will need a broadband connection to play it properly.

Great FPS ive played
Day of defeat: source is the new game by steam, based on the the original day of defeat, using steams new source powered engine.

the gameplay is great, with realistic firing recoil, grenading and realisic death moves. its graphics are great, far better than the original game. also security is much tighter than it was on the previous game ( ive only had 1 hack and that killed me and my teammates, but the player was automatically kiked off)

the only disadvantage is that it takes a while to load (well on 1mb broadband), but i have experienced very little lagging, a usual side effect of high graphic online multi players.

the value of the game is great!!!

Get the bundle pack instead
Better value for money is Counter-Strike Source (PC DVD) which if you read the small print also comes with DOD:S (this item) and HL2DM.

The reason I've only given it 3 stars is the original Day of Defeat (again comes bundled with original Half Life, don't buy the standalone version) has much better gameplay and enjoyment.

DOD:S is only a brief diversion with a lot of eye candy that ends up making the maps look real but the characters look like they are made of dull plasticine.
