Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Taken from the VH1 special Storytellers, this album is, as Cash explains in the notes, "two guitars, two stools and (me) and Willie. That perfect concept doesn't disappoint--the Man in Black and the Redheaded Stranger deliver moving guitar-and-voice performances of their best-known compositions and a few of their finer covers, Cash's deep rumble taking turns with Willie's fragile tenor over 15 songs. Both legends provide beautiful moments throughout, though the edge might have to go to Cash, since, in line with the show's concept, he frequently recounts the stories that inspired his art. Nelson, however, mainly limits himself to revealing that he wrote his three greatest songs ("Funny How Time Slips Away", "Crazy", and "Night Life") all in one week. The stories behind why he wrote them remain untold. --David Cantwell

Customer Reviews

A brilliant and unique album.4
I have been living in the United States for the past year and before I left for America I never liked country music but while I was in America a work college lent me this album, and after listening to it I was hooked on it. This album has so much depth and soul. Before each song is played the artists tell you how it was wrote, which makes it even more interesting. There are 15 tracks on the album and I dislike only three of them, Funny how time slips away, Crazy and Night life, these just tend to be fairly dull but the rest of the tracks are great. It just seems to have so much heart and is very relaxing to listen to, and uplifting at the same time. I really recommend this album and it is a good introduction to country music. Buy this album.

A very nice album4
This is a very nice and lovely album, and it's great to listen to two great musicians...there's are some great songs on the album and some great conversation, especially from Cash, who's always great on live albums no mather what age he is (Though the way in which his great of course differs alot)... and it's mainly cash who lefts up the Album, whereas Nelson is a little more boring listening to and his songs just aren't as great as Cash's... and it is fun the way you can easily hear that the instrumental music isn't pefect since it's live and without background music... worthwhile listening to for fans of both men, though Cash fans will get most satisfaction for the money...
