Autumn is best...
What truly excellent songs! What an excellent concert! It does not get any better than this. Today's bands should watch this in awe. This is how you do it. Forty years on they are as fresh as they were as young men in 1964. Time takes its toll, of course, but adds maturity and that's what is on show here along with buckets of talent. These are amongst the best songwriters ever heard. Winter will never arrive on these songs - they are forever Autumn.
this dvd the 1 to buy......
The Moody Blues (live,) lovely to see you is a must for all Moody Blue Lovers. excellent entertainment all round..
The Moodies should be heard but not seen
As one who has owned half a dozen of the early albums for 30 odd years I was disappointed by the concert. I'm not faulting the performances or the cinematography - they were executed to a very high standard. I know the Moodies were always a tad middle of the road but some of those early albums, particularly Days of Future Passed, had some very fine moments. What left me disappointed was the fact that the concert was so antiseptic. First, the audience were all decked out in Smart Casuals, dressed as for a Saturday night dinner party. Secondly, whilst the performances were refreshingly faithful to the original album versions, the performers didn't appear to be having a genuinely enjoyable time. It all looked a bit too glossy and fake. And as for that second drummer, who did he think he was? Bruce Springsteen on sticks?
