Manufacturer's Description
Experience the Akura TV with premium picture quality from the latest LCD technology, packed into a stunning, interior-enhancing design.
This WXGA display with state-of-the-art LCD screen technology gives you HD resolution of 1280 x 768p pixels. It produces brilliant flicker-free progressive scan pictures with optimum brightness and superb colours. This vibrant and sharp image will provide you with an enhanced viewing experience.
Enjoy the exceptional picture quality of a true High Definition TV signal and be fully prepared for HD sources like HDTV broadcast, Blu-ray DVD or HDVD. HD ready is a protected label that offers picture quality beyond that of progressive scan. It has the following connections, 2 scart sockets, S-Video, Audio In, VGA for PC input and a universal connection for both analogue YPbPr and uncompressed Digital connection of DVI .
A DVI-D input makes an uncompressed digital RGB connection from source to screen. By eliminating the conversion of the digital signal to analogue, it delivers an unblemished image. Thanks to the non-degraded signal, you get less flicker and a clearer picture. The DVI input is fully backward compatible with HDMI sources.

Nice picture but slow response
Wanted a cheap TV to replace our busted old 28inch TV (26inch visible), so looking at £200, but then saw the LCDs, and saw this at a very good price £400 and the style we wanted, saw a couple of good reviews so went for it.
The picture is good, as long as the signal is strong, seems to drop of if the signal is poor (we are cable so not sure what is affecting this). I have not got an HD source, so not tested in this mode.
First poor comment was the "auto setup", found all the channels, but then I had to "swap" them around to get them in the right order, and didn't say this was BBC1, etc.
The second poor comment is the response from the remote, it takes ages to change channel, or respond to any command from the remote.
Overall, I like the TV as it looks good, image is bright, don't notice any slow response of the LEDs, just not impressed by the software controlling the TV.
AKURA AH260LCD 26IN HD READY TV
Having read the other reviews on this tv i took the plunge and purchased one.
The tv does not live up to its expectations as i could not get the component sockets to work -Amazon exchanged the tv for another one within 5 days but the replacement was just the same-I contacted AKURA only to be told that because it was a new model exclusive to AMAZON and they had no idea how to resolve the problem-as they have not even seen this model so if anyone else has had this problem and resolved it i would be greatfull if you could let me know.
Also the response time is a bit slow.
Picture wise i would give it 4out of 5 as it is a bit grainey and the colours are not very true!
Al in all i would put a bit more money to and get a better tv if i was you.
You get what you pay for
At the advertised price, I thought this was a bargain, and indeed it is for a 26" flat panel LCD TV. But what I really forked out for was the DVI inputs to try out with my computer. So far, I have been a little disappointed.
The normal TV resolution is grainy. I've got digital satellite and my old widescreen CRT produced a crisper on-screen image than this TV. The colour black looks green, no matter how much fiddling I do with the image controls and all the images look as though they're from 1980s American sitcoms (very fuzzy).
The DVI port is obscured, and as such, any DVI plug that is plugged in has to go on to the socket at an angle. So far, I haven't managed to get any image through the DVI port, possibly due to the stupid positioning of the port.
Sound quality is tinny, and the TV cannot handle bass without crackling.
The remote control is a bit hit and miss as to when it wants to work.
On the plus side, it is cheap and easily wall mounted. It has a nice selection of ports and sockets. For the first time, I could, in theory, have a games console, DVD player, DVR and computer all plugged into the one machine and then output the sounds into a seperate amp direct from the TV, without a single cable showing.
I would recommend this TV if you're on a budget, but you will get what you pay for, which is a fairly average quality TV with a lot of potential for connectivity (if you discount the DVI port - the whole point of being HD ready!!).
