Album Description
Brand new release from the Californian power trio. "Apollo" is a cosmic cocktail of heavy riffs, electric blues and psychedelic space rock.
Produced by Daniel Rey (Ramones, Misfits, L7) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Mars Volta, Sonic Youth, Franz Ferdinand), and recorded mostly at Hollywood Sound Recorders (Danzig, System of a Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers), this 14 track album see’s the addition of new bassist Tom Davies.
Formed in 1997 after vocalist / guitarist Eddie Glass and drummer Ruben Romano left desert rock pioneers Fu Manchu, Nebula released a string of critically acclaimed full-lengths and EP’s before releasing their last album "Atomic Ritual" two and a half years ago. Nebula have also toured with Mastodon, Mudhoney, Hellacopters and more. "More fun than watching a Hell’s Angels pool cue assault in a biker bar" – Magnet
Customer Reviews
Dude!
Having got a little bored of "Let it Burn" and "Atomic Ritual" and gone off onto Brant bjork etc. I was a little surprised at just how good this really is. Huge riffs, inspired guitar and physcadelic effects are all in spades -- and of course it also some times breaks down into heavy fuzz.
The album begins with an introductary track "Orbit", flowing straight into one of the stand outs "Loose Cannon". A short, and imaginative, interlude is provided by "Trapezium Procession", before ramping up again into "Controlled". Finishing on "Wired", and outro song "Opiate Float", this Physc/Stoner trio really are on thier best form yet -- A future classic?
For fans of "Fu manchu", "Kyuss" & "The Atomic Bitchwax".
Nebula At Thier Best!
Eddie Glass, Ruben Romano (Old Fu Manchu members) and Tom Davies have done an excellent job on this album. Whirling guitar effects, Rumbling Bass and a lot of sweet distortion all feature, most notably on stand outs: "Loose Cannon", "Future Days" and "The Eagle Has landed". Each track is original and different and, whilst not being too predictable, it just sound right. Unlike thier previous, "Atomic Ritual", "Apollo" will be in your head for days.
-- A future classic?
Anthoer gem of acid rock!
Nebula are a fantastic band, live and in the studio and the proof of the latter is on 'apollo'. it's groovy, trippy and heavy all at the same time. If you think Nebula are a retro band forget it- they are progressive rock and roll and they are awesome at it, buy this cd, you wont regret it!!!
