Manufacturer's Description
LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy takes the fun and endless customization of LEGO and combines it with the epic story, characters and action from the original Star Wars movies that revolutionized pop culture forever (Episode IV A New Hope, Episode V The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI Return of the Jedi). With a unique tongue-in-cheek take on the Original Trilogy, LEGO Star Wars II follows the Rebel Alliance's crusade to dismantle the Galactic Empire and rebuild a galaxy in pieces. Build and battle your way through your favourite film moments, from Darth Vader's pursuit of Princess Leia aboard her Blockade Runner to a showdown on the second Death Star, as the game includes even more of the family-friendly LEGO action, puzzles and humour that earned the original LEGO Star Wars such popularity and acclaim.

And much more new to offer, it still has. For the first time ever, characters can get in and out of vehicles, as well as ride creatures. You can also mix and match the body parts of more than 50 playable characters to create one of millions of possible LEGO Star Wars heroes. And on console and Windows platforms, a game save from the first LEGO Star Wars can unlock another 50-plus additional characters for Free Play - that's more than 100 total characters! Other exciting additions include free-roaming vehicle levels that are no longer on rails, the ability to switch ships at will in Free Play, cool new character-specific attacks and manoeuvres, playable mini-kit vehicles, an optional adaptive difficulty mode and more.

LOVE THIS GAME !5
I have the starwars complete saga ds game and when I got a psp I couldnt wait to get this similar game to see what its like and I love it ! its fun and entertaining, you wont put it down until its completed ! I can not wait for lego indiana jones and lego batman which are soon to be released ! (=

It's Lego AND It's Star Wars5
A few years ago, a mate of mine raved to me about Lego Star Wars I on the PS2, telling me I had to buy it, it was amazing etc etc. It wasn't I didn't believe him, it's just I was busy playing Vice City or something and in the end, forgot about it.

Wind forward to a couple of Christmas's ago, and, as you always get rubbish presents when you're older, I got myself a copy of Lego Star Wars II on the PS2. I spent virtually the whole of the Xmas break glued to it, collecting everything I could, trying to complete all the extras, spending every spare moment, controller in hand.

I liked it so much, when I got myself a PSP, I also got myself a copy of this on the PSP and, it's just as good, if not better.

You play through all three of the original films, 6 levels per film, making 18 all together. Most of them are character based where you wander about, shooting things, blowing things up, building things, solving puzzles and generally having a blast. You play as a small handful of characters and can switch between them to do different tasks (R2D2 can open special "droid" doors, Obi Wan can use the Force for example).

Some are vehicle based where you drive or fly round doing the same thing, personally I'm not keen on these ones but, horses for courses I suppose.

Once you finish a level in "story mode", you can replay it in "free play", but as any combination of characters you like - want to be Darth Vader? You can be (once you unlock him later in the game). A lot of the characters have special powers and can access areas others can't, opening up new bits of the game.

In each level there are 10 hidden items to find and a bonus red brick - you collect these to unlock extras such as special weapons, extra damage and other goodies.

But there's still more to keep you coming back and replaying again and again and again. One of my fave bits is to build your own character with unique abilities - I love my custom Luke with special "dark force" powers.

"Why", as my girlfiend continually asks when I'm playing this, "are you playing a game for kids?"

"Because it's Lego AND it's Star Wars" I answer.

She just looks at me blankly.

I think that sums it up nicely - buy it. Now. Twice, in case one copy gets damaged.

FUN!4
