In the liner notes that accompanied this sonically superiorreissue of Manilow's 1981 album, he tellingly reveals that he composed much of this material in an Atlantic City beach house, with his piano facing out onto the ocean. This scenario makes a lot of sense, given the panoramic, romantic vistas explored throughout IF I SHOULD LOVE AGAIN. A knack for sentimentality had always been at the heart of Manilow's soundand success, and in the wake of his '70s smashes, he felt free to indulge that tendency. To a greater extent than any of his previous efforts, IF I SHOULD LOVE AGAIN is made up ofpoignant love ballads that revolve around Manilow's piano and humble but effective vocals. A remake of "Let's Hang On" is a bit at odds with this mood, but provides a nice uptempobreather nonetheless.

A legend forever
If I should Love Again/Summer of 78, is one of Barry's greatest selection of music ever. The songs are inspirational to both young and old listeners, all of whom can relate to one or more of his songs from sometime in their lives either or happy or sad. Each song makes you feel something totally different. Whoever buys and listens to this c.d, will I guarantee, feel alive, happy and totally themselves.

good old days!!
I have this album on vinyl, (but no record player now!!) been looking to replace all my albums and Barry is one of the first! This album is great, it was always one of my favourites, lots of original songs you don't get on 'best of' etc. if you like/love Barry, you will love this album, and even if you don't, I think you will be 'pleasantly surprised' Easy listening and great for relaxing or doing housework!
