Manufacturer's Description:
Marbles are exclusively controlled by the stylus in this fascinating title that satisfies even the strongest puzzle addiction. Marbles roll relentlessly down a twisted track toward you. Stop them by launching new marbles with your stylus. When three or more like-coloured marbles match up, they vanish. Tons of power-ups, multiple tracks, and a great multiplayer mode make Actionloop a must for puzzle/action fans! Single-player items boost your score, slow down or stop time, or reverse the course of the marbles.
Versus weaponry includes Ion Clouds (smoke screens you'll have to blow away via the DS mic), Recoils (which block marbles), Black Holes (which suck up launched marbles), Viruses (which deflect marbles), and Gravitons (which alter the path of launched marbles). A seemingly endless array of fresh twists will keep drawing you back to single-player Actionloop. Switches, tracks that pass over or below each other, and moving barriers that deflect marbles will keep you flicking marbles for hours.

Great fun for mums and dads this one!
I purchased the American version of this game, called Magnetica, in the Summer to play on a DS. I am a 42-year old mum who is pretty useless on computer games and the like, but this one just caught my eye. I have to say that I was totally addicted. It is the only game I have ever finished! My husband got fed up with me playing this game!!! You have to flick the different coloured marbles with the pen and if three or more colours are the same, they disappear. If you're too slow, the marbles back up and end up going down a big black hole and you lose. There are at least 55 levels to this game - I can't remember the exact number now, or you can play against an opponent in a challenge. It is very addictive, so beware! If you have 20 minutes to spare in a school car park or waiting room, then this is the game you want to have with you in your handbag! You won't mind waiting around any more for the kids to come out of school - you may even park up early, ha ha!!!! If you're a brilliant gamer, you may not get so much enjoyment out of this one, but if you're like me, a novice, who just wants a bit of fun on the DS now and then, then you won't be disappointed with this title. Go ahead and order it, and treat yourself! I didn't have a rumble pak with mine, so this will be even better. I might have to buy myself another copy!!!
Magnetic Gemstones, You Say?
Actionloop is the newest addition to the Touch Generations series, and while the other review on here deals with the specific "Touch Generations" approach to the game, I thought I'd give my two cents and provide you with another view.
While I'm not strictly a massive fan of the puzzle game genre, and tend to gravitate towards adventure games and the like this game really caught my eye, mostly because it's very similar to the Puzzloop clone, Zuma, which is highly entertaining. The main thing that distinguishes Actionloop from other games of this formula is the excellently integrated touch screen controls. While they take a little while to get used to, it becomes difficult to think of using a standard D-pad type set-up to play the game with. Gems can be flicked across the screen with relative ease, making the game somewhat easier to control. The developer, Mitchell, realised this and gave the game a faster pace than its successors, making the game even more fast paced than before.
Another great thing about this game is the variety of modes. There's challenge mode, which is based in one arena, with the goal being to keep the game going as it gets harder and harder and get to level 99. Quest mode is my favourite mode; this is a level based mode with 60 levels, each taking place in variations of a set of arenas with the aim being to clear all the gemstones. This may sound easy, but the game throws obstacles into the equation, like smoke clouds that can be cleared by blowing onto the DS's microphone. The last single player mode is Checkmate, which is a puzzle mode (also with 60 levels) in which you have a certain amount of specifically coloured Gemstones to use to destroy cleverly placed gemstones. Each of these modes is well suited to different situations, making the game very suited to a handheld console.
The game also features single and multi-card multiplayer in which each player races to clear their gems first, while trying to obtain chain combos to obstruct the other player's screens with blockers and distractions.
Actionloop comes bundled with the DS (original, not Lite) Rumble Pak which is a DS "Option Pak" that slots into the Gameboy Advance cartridge slot. The pak works fairly well but sadly is quite noisy, though after playing with it for a while though, you become accustomed to the noise. While it's probably not worth buying the game just for the rumble pak, it's a very nice extra that also works with games such as Metroid Prime: Hunters and Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time.
Overall, if you're looking for a game that's highly suited to portable gaming, Actionloop could be worth a look. The different game modes offer versatility and the increasing difficultly level will challenge even the best gamers. The Rumble Pak adds to sweeten the deal, especially if you still have your original DS, as it does stick out of a DS Lite.
horribly addictive, can i have my life back?
This is an easy game to play but is totally addictive. As you play look up occasionally and watch your life go by. It will take you over. Some of the levels are easy(ish) and others hard, but nothing compares with the total satisfaction of getting the last of those little balls into the hole and opening up another level, (despite the fact that it could take you hours to do). This game tests reactions, skill with the stylus and total refusal to give in and do something else. Enjoy!
