Manufacturer's Description
Eighteen years have passed since a bloody-thirsty landlord slaughtered the Royal family and assumed the role as Emperor. Today, the realm is one of chaos and oppression as the powerful warlord's horrific minions continue to slaughter and enslave the people.
When members of a secret shape-shifting race begin to disappear, suspicions of an insidious plot to exterminate this ancient people lead many of them to flee to the wilderness for survival.
While struggling to escape, some of them stumble upon a carefully guarded secret that rekindles hope for freedom in the realm. Can these refugees-turned-heroes bring the last surviving heir of the dynasty to the capital city, or will they lead him to the warlord's hands, dooming their race into extinction, and their human cousins to endless oppression and strife?

This is a great game to play
Having played the original game-and being familiar with the genre, all I trully expected was a graphical update-what I found was much, much more.
You have a choice of 5 warriers, each with their own unique weapons and armour, styles of fighting, special moves and magic, none of which you will be dissapointed with-and the game follows you in your attempt to rid the world of evil-in the form of a man who through war has unleashed a large number of monsters on the world.
First off, the graphics are much better-with each location looking distinctly different. In the original game, many of the areas and enemies were far too similiar, this is not the case-you will have monastries to explore, vast ice lands, sewers-there is a great variety of variation, and the same applies for the monsters too. The detail has been dramatically upped and the 3D feel of the game just feels a lot better. The cut scenes are notably better with the inclusion of speech.
In terms of gameplay, it is pretty much the, do this job by killing this game-it is not the (press attack over the over again affair the first one was-firstly there are counter attacks, AND charge attacks that have been included (great aditions to the gameplay giving the fighting greater variety) THEN there are the usual long range/short range weapons to buy, plus, magic to upgrade which does all sorts from increasing attack, to lightning bolts-plus the ability to level up and upgrade weapon upgrades making a far more complex.
The game has also included the ability to watch cut scenes and a beastery for your perusal-the only big faults are again loading, and the fact that the camera angle is quite stubborn, other than that, this is a fine game to play and one you won't regret buying.
Very very fun.
Having picked this game up nearly 3 years post release I was utterly surprised at how good the graphics are, and how enjoyable the game play was. Considering the size of the PSP the graphics have aged well and the backgrounds have enough variation to keep you interested in progressing the story. The cut scenes are nice also, and progress the story nicely.
I am constantly surprised at the PSPs capabilities, which always leads me to believe that the PSP is the most underrated console of all time - it deserves so much more attention than its given.
Turning to the game. It has a distinct feeling of Diablo. The story is fairly routine, choose one of 5 characters, save the kingdom from an evil false king and restore the true king.
The game play again has features of Diablo 2, having a similar skill type tree. It has the usual RP character modes typical of a dungeon crawler. The armor and weapon variations are good, and keep you interested.
The use of projective weapons (cannons, guns etc) is novel, but I couldn't help feel that reliance was mainly centered around melee.
Overall I bought this game a week ago, brand new off the market place. I started playing it and found I couldn't put it down, I've now completed in 3 days of nearly constant playing.
I couldn't recommend the game enough, utterly fun - give it a go, you know you'll enjoy it.
This game deserves a sequel, hopefully Ubisoft will make one one day.
hack'n'slash fun
If you like dungeon trawling, hack and slash, pretty looking games, then this is for you. It's basically Balder's Gate dark Alliance, with the funky graphics of Warcraft on a handheld. Looks very good, easy to level up, plenty of options to customise weapons and armour with jewel-stones, and lots and lots of things to kill.
The story is a bit shallow, and the load times take a while. Also, there could have been more extras, such as different play options and unlockables. i haven't tried the muliplayer yet, but for a good few hours of RPG fun, this game is great.
