To say indie rockers Serena-Maneesh aren't influenced by MyBloody Valentine is like saying Oasis aren't influenced by the Beatles. All the hallmarks of MBV's glorious noise-rock are here: washes of droning guitars, high-flown ethereal harmonies, and endless layers of psychedelic detail both dissonant and lush.
Yet bandleader Emil Nikolaisen and company range outside the traditional shoegaze parameters, dipping into blissful melodic pop ("Un-Deux"), Krautrock-style jams ("Candlelighted"), and amped-up Stooges-cum-metalhead thrash ("Beehiver II"). Best of all, these elements are woven together with an unerringly precise ear for texture and color, and a superior production sensibility, creating a listening experience that relieves Serena-Maneesh from any charges of rank imitation.

My Bloody Word.
This album is like the collision of heaven and hell in aural form, beautiful melodies and angelic vocals melded flawlessly with crushing walls of guitar and drums.
This is the record that welcomes with open arms both hardcore riffage and the more tuneful sensibilities that most fans of music in or around the rock genre forgo as if loud music is incapable of being beautiful.
If you like My Bloody Valentine, Serena-Maneesh will interest you, clearly influenced by MBV but with lush production values that don't detract from the raw edge.
