Throw the kid gloves away!
I ordered one of these because I kept polishing my new iPod every time I used it as it seemed to show every little fingerprint. I was also worried about scratching the screen and clickwheel.

I was a bit alarmed when the Invisible Shield arrived as it came with a bottle of application fluid and instructions for sticking the plastic film to the iPod, which I hadn't quite anticipated. However, the video on the ShieldZone website was very good (I'd recommend watching this first as it's much more detailed than the instructions that come with the shield).

The FAQs on the site also made it clear that the Invisible Shield was completely removable, so I was reassured that I wouldn't wreck the iPod if it went wrong.

In the event, it was fairly straightforward to install. My only gripe is that I spent so long trying to get the front shield aligned and bubble-free that I almost ran out of application fluid for the back. As a result, the back shield is not as perfectly bubble-free as I'd like (I can live with this as you can't see the back when it's in its normal case). Sending a bigger bottle of fluid would have resulted in a 5-star rating.

Having the shield on the iPod has made handling it much easier and has given me piece of mind that I'm not going to scratch it just through normal use. I don't feel that I have to handle it with kid gloves any more. Definitely recommended.

I am rating this product 5 stars as it is currently the best thing on the market to protect your ipod. It is very slender and hardly noticable once applied. However, and there is a however. Application is less than easy and takes ages! I highly recommend watching the videos on the shieldzone website, as the instructions given aren't very detailed and make it seem like a straight-forward process. The main issue with applying it is that you get a very small bottle of application fluid, which restricts how many times you can go wrong. And it does go wrong. I couldn't get it completely dust/bubble free, it seems next to impossible to do so. So it won't look quite as good as it does on the website, and expect an hour of swearing! The other thing is that it claims to have a lifetime warranty, but it you buy it somewhere other than shieldzone's website, you have to register your product, get a reg number and send that, with your reciept, to Utah! I doubt many can be bothered with that. But it is very slim and makes my ipod look like new! And it does work, I've had it in my bag with keys etc and it still scratch-free. Although why we have gone to such extremities, using material used in the military for our electronics, is beyond me. Surely apple can make their products a little more durable, most phone companies manage it.

Buy this immediately (or even better, have it in your possession before you receive your ipod)as this will be the single best thing you can do for your new ipod when you are still handling it with kid gloves. After application you will be buoyed with confidence in an infinitely more rugged ipod without any compromise. 4 stars only because of the lack of application fluid (barely enough) and trickiness of fitting (hint-ignore packaging instructions and watch the online video demonstration)
