All time classic!
This is widely regarded as a classic game. The original was good but this sequel is much better. I don't think the same can be said for Project Gotham 3 unfortunately. Anyway the game has a few different modes to play to keep everyone happy:
The Kudos World Series is the best part of the game. It consists of a number of challenges per car class set in many famous cities around the world like Edinburgh and Moscow. The first car class includes the likes of the VW Beetle and the Mini Cooper and as you advance you unlock the next car classes which include faster and faster cars. In all there are 172 challenges. The aim at the beginning of each challenge is to choose a difficulty level and try and meet the target. There are 5 difficulty levels from Steel through to Platinum. This allows the total beginner to get into the game but also gives the complete expert a challenge. The challenges includes your normal races, one-to-ones, speed camera races (where you try to match a certain speed where the camera is), cone challenges (try to get a continuous Kudos combo around the course), timed laps etc. Whilst doing these challenges you gain Kudos for things like winning races or doing stylish slides. This Kudos allows you to unlock the unavailable cars. And the selection of cars is massive. There are 5 cars which can't be accessed as they are unlockable upon completion of the game at the 5 difficulty levels. This makes it very addictive.
The arcade mode has three sections of 20 challenges, one set of races, one of time-trials and one of cone challenges. Here you have no choice of the car you are given unlike in the Kudos World Series Mode. Again the challenges have 5 difficulty levels.
The time series mode allows you to get to know tracks and set lap times on them for your friends to beat.
There is also a showroom where you can view all the cars and test-drive the ones you haven't bought yet. As well as this there is your garage where all your cars are kept. Imagine owning this many cars!! You'd be rich!
As well as all this there is a great online part of the game. You can get all your top scores put online to see how you compare with the best and also you can download the best shadows to see how the experts do it. Then there are the online races that allow you to get online kudos. Furthermore there are extra downloadable tracks and cars to be got online. Since the 360 is out now these may well be free.
All in all a classic.
