Editorial Reviews

CD Description
Hip-hop superstar West follows up his second studio album 'Late Registration' with this live effort, recorded at London's legendary Abbey Road studios, in front of a specially invited audience of 300 lucky fans, and with the backing of a full symphony orchestra. West gives it his all for this performance of his biggest hits, and his cerebral rhymes get the benefit of a huge soundbed which completely alters the dynamic of the songs. Also available on DVD.

Customer Reviews

Undone by polished performances!3
Part live album, part "unplugged album" (with the live strings) and part "greatest hits", this album didn't meet my expectations. I was expecting it to capture the feeling of the recent "Touch the Sky Tour", but bar a few cheers at the start of the tracks, it fails to do so.

On some tracks, you can certainly tell it's a live orchestra and that Kanye is rapping on stage and not in a studio, but this is where the problem lies - Kanye is such a polished performer, and his production is so tight, that the live version isn't really that much different from the studio versions you hear on his albums.

I've seen the man live three times now, and would recommend that experience wholeheartedly. This album gets a much more cautious response - part of me says that if you've got Late Registration and The College Dropout, or if you're looking to capture the Kanye live experience, save your money. The other says that it's got all the big tunes and they sound good.

This is crazy!5
What can i say! I just bought this album today, and im a huge fan of kanye west. When i heard this, i was completly gobsmacked. I wasnt really bothered to buy this because i was waiting for the next album, but i thought id give it a shot. What a purchase!

The live versions put the recorded versions to shame. My favourite out of all of the live tracks include 'Through The Wire', although 'Diamonds From Sierra Leone' and 'Touch The Sky' were brilliant. This man is the next movement in hip hop, and who knows what hell do next. Ill tell all of you know, this is a must for every hip hop, classical, ah forget it....MUSICAL enthusiast out there!

Honestly, it wasnt necessary to put the gold digger track on it, because it wasnt at abbey road.

Never the less, this is completly solid and a fantastic effort by 'ye. Prepare for graduation!

Could be better3
If you like Kanye but don't have much of his stuff then give it a go. Otherwise not really worth.
