Editorial Reviews

CD Description
With her third album, SO AMAZIN,' Cuban-American singer Christina Milian offers up another fine set of pop/hip-hop-tinged R&B. As on her previous outing, IT'S ABOUT TIME, Milian is joined by prominent rappers--in this case, Young Jeezy andThree 6 Mafia on the propulsive opener "Say I" and the clubanthem "Who's Gonna Ride", respectively. While Milian is clearly working in the style of Beyonce, she has enough charm and vocal talent to make her own mark, as revealed on the sensual groover "Hot Boy".

More underwhelmin' than amazin'4
The third studio album from the multi-talented Ms. Milian presents a plausible case for breach of promise. Having been nominated for Grammy awards twice over, and with her songwriting creds, the listening public deserves more than an album of eleven "ordinary" songs that are indistinguishable from anything else playing on R&B stations anywhere.

First single "Say I" with Young Jeezy, is a radio-friendly dance track, but won't be another "Dip It Low" or "AM to PM". The only way you'll remember this one a few months from now is by the helpful contribution of Young Jeezy at the beginning of the song:

"I can't think of nothing else to say
Christina Milian
Cool and Dre"

Although acceptable from an R&B singer on debut, these lyrics more or less tell the story of this album - nothing new to say. Second single "Gonna Tell Everybody" starts off well, but then goes downhill quickly, and by the time we get to "Who's Gonna Ride" with Three 6 Mafia, (a track with a few PA lyrics) they have to remind you again who're you're listening to.

Listen to the singles on the radio, and wait for the next album.

Very new, fresh, and cool4
The new Christina Milian album is an album that surprised me. I wouldn't say it's what I consider "good music", but I must say it does have very nice rithyms and beats. The only thing that this album needs to be great is for the girl to mature a bit, and then so will the songs. If you like Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, or pussycat dolls, I guess you will like this album. It is not a bad album, just very commercial!

Best wishes,
Tony.

Not 'Amazin'...but close to it!4
Christina Milian always seems to be on the verge of a breakthrough. Her first album was a bit of a non-starter yet still yielded two top five singles so it was a bit of a mystery why she suddenly disappeared.

Never mind, she came back with 'Dip It Low', her highest charting UK single to date, and an album that matched it in quality. Yet one more top ten single and again she disappeared, this time it was a little more frustrating as there were several potential singles to be mined from the album.

So, third time around, 'Say I' already looks to be heading to join her other singles as a top ten hit and she presents an album that is much more fluent and assured than the previous two. In a way it's a shame, she's lot the pop edge that previous material had and in it's place is a heavier R&B sound which is perfectly refined, but terribly generic.

It's hard to review the album without thinking that there'll probably only be one more single to come from it but of the highlights the title track seems ready made to go to clubs and would be a crime to go unreleased (not that that's stopped her before).

If you like what came before for Milian then you'll probably like this, but if you'd noticed with the last album she was moving further into solely-R&B territory and weren't keen then I'd exercise caution as this album really marks her arrival.
