Better than rechargeables?
I have bought this for my XBox 360 after deciding against the Play and charge kit, which I felt defeated the object of wireless controllers.
The quick charge kit is pretty good value, considering what a normal NI-MH battery charger & batteries costs - although you would at least be able to reuse those for other things.
The battery recharges really quickly in the quick charge kit (2 hours for a single battery) so it's much faster than normal AA batteries when being recharged. If you add a second battery to the quick charge kit (and I recommend you do) then the time doubles.
I would definitely suggest getting a second battery for the quick charge kit, although the price of the single batteries in comparison to the quick charge kit price is quite expensive. If you don't have a spare battery on hand, you will find you will always have to resynch your controller with the console - if you have a spare charged battery and quickly swap them over, it's not normally necessary to resynch the controller.
Initially I thought the life of the batteries was really poor - but after a few discharge/charge cycles, the battery life improved quite markedly. Being able to monitor the battery level via the dashboard is also very useful.
GREAT KIT FOR THE 360
This little desktop gadget will nicely charge up 2 battery packs for the 360 within 2 hours or so. This is pretty essential if you use a battery pack for the 360 as you may be aware of the cons of charging your battery pack by having to plug the controller charger cable into the usb on the 360 whenever you need to charge your pad rendering it useless from being wireless while it charges...
This gadget sits nicely on a shelf while plugged into the mains (from where it obviously charges the batteries!) and is desinged in keeping with the other 360 products. On a personal note I place my 360 remote and controller on the same shelf and it does look pretty neat and the design really does compliment them.
Oh, and it also comes bundled with a spare battery pack so you will never run out in the middle of playing Ghost Recon! (or any other game you fancy)
All in all, I strongly recommend this sleek kit to anyone who is fed up of the standard way of charging. Get it now!
Good but be careful!
I got this peice of kit for xmas and it works brilliantly. It charges full in about 1 hour and lasts for 25 hours of play which is ruddy good. Here comes the but, the battery pack has small metal strips to connect it to the charger and if you charge alot the metal strips where away and you cant charge anymore (like mine). Im going to try the play and charge kit as i dont have to take out the battery therefore wearing away the strips.
