Z-Board: Guild Wars Factions keyset
I am an absolutely huge Guild Wars fan & spend at least 1-2hrs min on either Guild Wars or Factions per night after i come home from work. If your a big fan of the series like myself, you will no doubt know exactly what i mean when i say that playing GW can eat serious chunks out of your time once you really get teamed up in a party & start helping each other out on quests, Therefore it is essential that you have the best possible gaming periphials available to ensure that you can react quick & have everything just where you need it.

Ideazone are quite well known for the Z-board keyboard system. but for anyone who isn't two familiar with how it works, i will give a brief overview before reviewing the GW Factions Keyset. Basically Ideazone designed the entire Z-Board system for gamers by gamers, the entire concept of the system is to help anyone like myself who has trouble remembering how the keys have been mapped/layed out by the game developers & are constantly getting into a muddle or for people who would just prefare to have every thing a bit more easily accessable. When you purchase a Z-Board you get a keyboard base plus 2 keysets, 1 Qwerty Keyset + 1 Generic Gaming Keyset (which is of the most use for FPS games.) The Qwerty Keyset is pretty much like a standard Qwerty keyboard but with hotkeys at the top for fast launching e-mails, internet, folder search ect. The Generic Keyset does away with the numercial keypad at the left & moves the Qwerty alphabetical keys to the left to make room for extra large directional button & frequently used buttons such as strafe, crouch, change weapon ect. If your a big fan of Quake, Half Life ect this is a dream. You can also purchase specific Keysets which are designed for individual titles such as GW Factions, Battlefield II, Lord Of The Rings Battle For Middle Earth 2 ect. Each of these keysets are specially layed out to suite the style of play & keyboard commands & place you with everything you need right at your fingertips, each keyset can be clipped of the keyboard base via a lock on the left hand side of the base & folded up into 4 sections in a Z pattern (hence the name Z-Board)

I purchased the GW Factions board soon after the game was released & to be honest i wish a Z-Board was release for Guild Wars before Factions followed, but it does not really make that much difference as the keyset works for great for the first game & Factions brilliantly & i cannot think of any changes made to the layout for either game.

I cannot give Z-Board enough praise for the way the Factions Keyset has been layed out, for the main part the Qwerty section is in the same position as a normal keyboard with just a few minor changes to help with actions such as wisper being assigned to the @ button & start chat being assigned to the/ button ect. It is on the right section that the most attention has been paid to by the staff at Z-board. The numerical pad has been replace by a block of keys giving you quick-fire access to fuctions such as: Friends, Guild, Observe, Score, Party, Hero, Items, Map, Quests, Skills, All Bags & Mini Map ect. Also on the right are specially moulded & shapped buttons for functions such as directional buttons for use when exploring the landscapes & targeting enemies ect.

On the Whole I would say that once you have taken a couple of gaming sessions to get us to the new layout of the keys & familiarised yourself with the specially placed hotkeys section of the Keyset, you will wonder how you ever got on without the Factions keyset, i myself now find quests completion time are almost halved as sorting stuff such as organising you invertory or accessing the map to plot your course is so much simpler as you have it all in such easy to locate buttons.

If you are a big fan of Guild Wars I would recommend this production without hesitation. Trust me, this beautifull piece of kit will double your enjoyment of the game, with the added pro of giving everyone in your party the impression of a well seasoned GW Verteran.

I would also recommend Z-board keysets for other games such as Everquest II, Lord Of The Rings: Battle For Middle Earth II, World Of Warcraft & Doom 3
