Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
In a nutshell:
A new Final Fantasy game was always going to be a given for the PlayStation 3 but the teaser trailer shown by Square Enix at E3 shows that work on the new game is far more advanced, and far more impressive, than previously thought.

The lowdown:
Through careful study of the trailer and the few pieces of information Square Enix have left slip it's revealed that the new game is set across several different time periods, with each episode of the story starring a different cast of characters. The trailer showed a very futuristic looking world as well as some lush looking forest environments. How much of what was seen is actual real-time PlayStation 3 graphics is unclear, but the fact that it's so difficult to tell which is which speaks volumes about the game's quality. The only other fact known about the game is that, despite some rumours to the contrary, it does not feature an online mode.

Most exciting moment:
Getting a glimpse of the all new combat system which seems to suggest a new, more action orientated, direction for the blockbusting series.

Since you ask:
Two spin-offs of the game are already planned, one called Final Fantasy Versus XIII for the PS3 and the other called Final Fantasy Agito XIII for mobile phones.

The bottom line:
A milestone in the history of the world's most famous role-playing game series.

Not too sure3
Hey everyone, am not to sure how this game is going to turn out! ff7 was what got me into the world off ff but when we got to ff-XII i was mildly disapointed the battles wernt the same and i felt they had lost there edge i really hope this new game will bring back that excitment that we all felt when the battle music started up and relief when we heard saw the characters celebration at the end well here is praying

FINAL FANTASY XIII. The reason to get a PS3.5
FINAL FANTASY XIII is an RPG by SQUARE ENIX for the PLAYSTATION 3.

- PRODUCER: Yoshinori Kitase
- DIRECTOR: Motomu Toriyama
- SCENARIO: Kazushige Nojima
- CHARACTER DESIGNER: Tetsuya Nomura
- ART DIRECTOR: Isamu Kamikokuryo
- CGI MOVIE DIRECTOR: Eiji Fujii
- BATTLE DIRECTOR: Toshiro Tsuchida
- MUSIC COMPOSER: Masashi Hamauzu

The game will be the most futuristic FINAL FANTASY game to date. The game will have the ADB (Active Dimension Battle) system of FINAL FANTASY XII but it will work in a completely new way. The battles will be animated on par with the epic battles in the CGI movie FINAL FANTASY VII: ADVENT CHILDREN.

It will be released sometime during or after December 2008 in Japan. A USA and European release will possibly be at the same time or sometime in 2009.

This game will be awesome5
i know ur only supposed to write a review when the game has come out, but here it goes-

1. fabula nova crystalis doesn't mean "one world, many stories" as some guy here put. it means "the new tale of the crystal". hint hint the word CRYSTALis. its latin. The games' settings appears to revolve around "Crystals that lead the world towards the future."

2. Appearing as normal objects, the Crystals are an integral part of all the worlds in each of the games, though the games will not revolve around them; instead, they will provide a background to other, more specific plots. However, the functionality of the Crystals has lead the games' designers to pay special attention to creating the visual look of these worlds.

3. Each of the games is independent of the others and only share a common backdrop
