Coming out towards the end of the original Xbox's life, the first Forza Motorsport was a sadly overlooked gem that was as realistic as Gran Turismo but far more exciting and accessible to the average player. Despite being close to release, surprisingly little is known about the sequel, although it has been confirmed that it will include over 300 licensed cars with everyone from Nissan and Volkswagen to Lamborghini and Chevrolet having a presence on the track. All of the cars feature realistic damage; this can range from tiny scratches on the paintwork to almost splitting your car in two during a particularly devastating crash. If you're the type of driver that likes their car damage-free, you can set the realism of the modelling to whatever you want.

The final game is expected to include over 70 different real world tracks, including Suzuka Circuit in Japan and Sebring International Raceway in Florida. There are also many fictional tracks, some inspired by real world locations. The game also supports multiplayer via Xbox Live, split-screen and system link. Every vehicle is customizable via the in-built decal editor, and you can trade cars and liveries with other players via Xbox Live. If you fancy the ultimate driving experience, then grab the official Xbox 360 Wireless Steering Wheel that has been developed specifically for the game. And to really impress your mates, you can setup multiple TV screens for an almost 360 degree view of the game. Any more realistic and you'd need a driving license to play. - HARRISON DENT

Exceptional work5
I think Jeremy Clarkson summed it up best on one of the Top Gear episodes, where he took a Honda NSX - R round the Mugen racing circuit, once on Forza Motorsport and then for real, to see how the two compared.

Once on the Circuit, He realised that the only thing seperating the two times was the fact that when playing Forza, the user has no 'fear factor' and therefore, trying to match the time on Forza was impossible.

Previous reviewers have moaned about the level of graphics on this game. however, when you consider the sheer amount of detail put in to this game you can see why they haven't put as much time into it. drivers physically change gear (you can see this) brake discs heat up on heavy use, and whilst in race you can keep tabs on not just tyre wear, but also tyre heat in order to ensure maximum grip. tuning your chosen car does require a degree of understanding about cars in itself - although you can physically feel the difference, and the consequences of getting it wrong. these are just a few of the details built in to the game.

With 300 (ish) cars available to purchase or win, there is something for everyone, from the Ford Focus ST to the Pagani Zonda and every single car not only feels different when driving, but reacts differently to different situations, from cornering on rails (Pagani Zonda) to sliding about all over the place like the tyres were made out of Banana Skins (Shelby Cobra).

This game is a true driving simulator like nothing else on the market. I suggest that if you're looking for graphics, you choose something like PGR or Need for Speed. A friend of mine tried Forza Motorsport 2 after completing the latest need for speed, and failed to finish a lap after 10 minutes. Donuting all over the place, he eventually gave up, proclaiming it as 'a heap of crap'. I just hope he doesn't ever get hold of a driving licence.

I personally hope that they bring out Forza 3, as quickly as possible, to save me from buying some other 'all action, all graphics' heap of fiction other people call a 'racing game'.

Realistic racing sim4
The game seems to mainly be built for realism, at which it succeeds (as long as you have a force feedback steering wheel), the graphics are rather beautiful and the gameplay is fun.. for a while. After a while the gameplay just becomes tedious, although there is much you can do unless you love cars, and want to play a game with such realism (which requires an ample amount of patience), I would not recommend it to you. However, having said this the game is still one of the best racing games I have ever played.

Soulless3
I love car games, it's why i got a console in the first place but i don't understand the fuss about forza 2.

The graphics are ok but no where near gotham 3 or 4. The cars are over shiny with the track in dull low detail makes the cars look plastic. Also there are no in-car graphics at all!

The AI is non-existent. They just drive around as though on tracks. If you are on the racing line they'll drive straight through you and off you go.

Car decal customisation, what's the point. Ok so doing up one car can be fun but after that it takes too long and when racing you can only see the rear of the car so why bother, i mean, painting the break discs???

Racing, you buy your first car, you win money and are provided with new cars. I haven't upgraded any cars yet because if i did i'd never lose a race. It's pointless. If you want a challenge then you can't upgrade the cars so why make it such a big part of the game. Also unlike say gotham, you can enter an allowed car into a race and the opposition cars will stay the same. This means you can enter a vastly superior car and win without trying. Some races have AI cars that are so superior to other AI cars in the race that you are only actually racing one car, and lapping all the others. Car entry can also be annoying such as when the cars must be v10's, as there is no way of knowing which cars are v10 so what car to buy??

Tracks, I'm halfway through the game and it seems as though i've only raced on about six tracks, all of which seem to be directly lifted from the first forza game. Also i'm not sure if any of them are actually real tracks.

Overall, the game is ok to dip in and out of. Prolonged play is just dull. I like the more realistic driving games and arcade style ones, but this game is just kinda pointless and feels like a chore. If it wasn't for the achievement points would i still be playing it, i'm not so sure.
