Hooked? No. Gospel? Definitely not!
This has been the first Amazon product I have bought that I have considered returning. I was initially suspicious by the very cheap cost of this CD. My suspicions increased when I recieved the disc and couldn't find any details of the artists involved in making the recording.
After hearing the music, I now believe the producer (who is possibly too embarrassed to put his or her name on the sleeve notes) went to the casting session of High School Musical and recruited the rejects. I would be very surprised if any of the singers had any experience of singing gospel (the fact that you can hear every single clearly annunciated syllable is a dead giveaway).
The only track I have listened to more than once has been 'Awesome God' (in fact it's the only track I could bear to listen to all the way through). If you are interested in contemporary gospel music, I would recommend Acm Gospel Choir instead which includes a far better version of 'Awesome God' (called 'He Reigns' on the ACM disc).
'Hooked on Gospel' may only be £3 but save your money!
