Product Description

Call of Duty 2 lets players experience four individual soldier stories as they overcome insurmountable odds in multiple campaigns. Players have the freedom to follow each of the four storylines through for the ultimate character-driven experience, or they can engage in the historic battles chronologically for quick hitting action.

Infinity Ward, creator of the blockbuster, original Call of Duty, has also expanded the scope of combat to deliver a truly realistic battlefield experience. Squads now have the freedom to take on a variety of mission objectives, on expansive battlefields that allow for multiple paths and the ability to utilize actual combat tactics like outflanking and fire and maneuver capabilities.

Call of Duty 2`s new engine and A.I. technology set the stage for authentic squad combat and astonishing action. Concealment can be key as battlefield smoke or even deployed smoke grenades cloud visibility. Weather effects such as the dusty sandstorms of North Africa and whiteout blizzard conditions of Russia, for example, will keep soldiers glued to their bunkers. The team has also employed a state-of-the-art Battle Chatter System that brings the action to life as squad-mates bark out context-sensitive updates in real-time to players through an advanced A.I. system.

  • All-new enhancements ranging from stunningly realistic graphics that include beautifully rendered weather effects and smoke to seamless gameplay
  • Gamers can play through missions in the order they see fit with the freedom to follow each of four storylines through for the ultimate character-driven experience
  • Expansive, open-ended battlefields allow players to individualize tactics and choose the order in which they complete their objectives
  • All-new, context-sensitive battle chatter system where, through advanced A.I., the player`s squadmates as well as enemy troops alike call out

In a nutshell:
In the increasingly crowded world of World War II-inspired shooters, the Call of Duty series is the oft-challenged king. Call of Duty 2 adds improved friendly and Nazi artificial intelligence (which means understanding a few words of German can make the difference between knowing the enemy is advancing on the left as opposed to the right flank) as well as some beautiful visual effects, most impressive of which is the smoke, which now billows and authentically blankets parts of the battlefield in a fog of war.

The lowdown:
The yells of your men mix with the bellowing of the storm troopers in skirmishes that already feel heady and confusing, adding to the sensation of being in a real conflict. Intense, chaotic and making full use of Xbox 360’s Dolby Digital surround sound, Call of Duty 2 looks as though it will create a new benchmark for console simulations of the last World War.

Most exciting moment:
Clearing houses of those last few concealed Nazis is nerve-racking and highly rewarding, as is lobbing a smoke grenade into the bunker of a particularly troublesome machine-gunner before storming it in the resulting blackout.

Since you ask:
If you liked TV’s Band of Brothers, listen up, because virtually the entire cast appears to have signed up to provide voiceovers for the game.

The bottom line:
Unlike smoking behind the bike sheds, this is shaping up to be big, hard and clever.

Great single player, FABULOUS online5
whats so good about this game?? Well firstly there is the gameplay. On the PS2 I could never get used to aiming/shooting using the analog sticks - so much so that I would only play games like medal of honor and call of duty on my pc using keyboard and mouse. If you felt the same then this game should be the one to change your mind, as the controls feel just right.

Graphics are great despite what one or two previous people have previously said - I would strongly suggest they start up their old ps2/xbox using a similar type of game (say medal of honor like I did) it was surprising just how much the graphics have changed!!

Playing online against other xbox live users is simply brilliant. Provided you've got a decent broadband connection, I have found the game works spot on, maintaining smooth graphics and speed of play. Single player offline mode is also excellent with a good variety of tasks to perform!

In summary, if you have liked this type of game in the past (or simply want to try it out) I have full confidence that you will enjoy it.......hope this helps your decision to buy!!!

I can think of no other word to describe this game other than...5
FANTASTIC!!!!!!! Call Of Duty 2 for the xbox 360 is an absolute must have for those who enjoy first-person-shooters. The game is set in the middle of World War 2, and as you play through the game, give you the chance to play as 3 different countries. You play the tutorial and the first three campainges as the Soviet Union, then you play the majority of the game as the English, then you move to play D-day and a few other missions as the Americans. Battle in authentic locations, such as Pointe Du' Hocc and Tunisia, use an arsenal of authentic WW2 guns, including the Russian PPsH and the prototype of the tommy gun.

The graphics are truly fantastic and the gameplay will keep you going for hours. If you find the easy and regular difficulties to easy, then jack it up to hard or veteran to really test your skills, i've completed the game on easy, regular and hard difficulties and i'm having real trouble battling through the veteran levels. If you purchase the game of the year edition, you get a free bonus DVD which contains level walkthroughs commentated by the game desighners thenselfs, as well as a historical account of the battle of Pointe du' Hocc as re-called by a real American war veteran.

They really have squeezed everything they can into this game and with explosive results, cant wait for call of duty 3!

Everything is done right in this game5
It's not surprising that Call of Duty 2 won countless GOTY awards, it's arguably the best shooter for the X360, and might continue to be so until COD 3 comes out this autumn.

Apart from the wonderful graphics, sound, storyline, gameplay etc, I like the fact there are no health packs in this game, no backtracking to pick them up, and not even a health meter, if you continue to take damage you die, if you get out of fire quickly you get over it, and if you do die there are no restarts putting you 5 mins back, or even needing to load the map again, it automatically puts you back just a short moment before you died, this offers continous gameplay without the drag of replaying old parts, or waiting for the screen and map to load up again, why haven't other developers made their games this way? I believe it's the way to go with all action games of this type, also the game offers more than 3 difficulty levels, another flaw of most other games is that the usual 3 difficulty levels doesn't cater to the variety of skill of the general public.

The GOTY version is value for money, throwing in a DVD of content and a few new maps for multiplayer, a great game that has just given back a little more to the fans, keep up the good work Infinity Ward!
