better than average outing for the perenially popular dance compilation3
Let's face it...however much you despise the institution that is the 'Clubland' series, they'll still sell like cold drinks on a hot day. Thankfully, this ninth installment is a much more enjoyable listen than usual...one of the main reasons for this is the fortunate absence of cheesy 'dance' remixes of manufactured pop acts such as Girls Aloud that have plagued previous entries in the series (with the exception of Nelly Furtado and Sugababes remixes which remain as fresh and stylish as the original versions of the tracks). There's also the odd 'proper' dance track thrown in here for good measure: whilst respectable club DJs might resent the presence of cheesemeisters Flip & Fill and Ultrabeat, there's some comfort to be gained from the inclusion of stylish and popular tracks by A Studio and Paul Oakenfold...however, be under no illusions that this compilation will be featuring in the album reviews of Mixmag and DJ magazines; Clubland 9 unashamedly upholds the series' reputation as cheesy, commercial dance music for the masses, so if you only listen to the most stylish Defected compilations, this album is DEFINITELY not for you.
If you're a fan of this series, ot similar Ministry of Sound compilation 'Clubber's Guide' however, Clubland 9 won't disapoint: just don't expect to be hearing any of the tracks listed being rinsed in Fabric on a Saturday night. ;-)

Clublands usual summer cheese2
So here we are. 2006, and little has changed for Clublands style, or choice of songs. Just more cheesey material for the teens who still think its 'really good' (the kids that walk around at night drinking cider or vodka.. they soon grow out of it..)
And so with the album being just as bad as the last 3, theirs little new to review, apart from the pink and the cd cover that gets more an more cheesy every year.

clubland still rules5
I look forward to every time a new clubland is out and this one doesn't disappoint for all those fans who love it like me. What I'm getting fed up with is people slagging it off, there are many forms of dance music and this may be comercial but it sells so why have a problem with it, each to their own.
