Synopsis
Academy Award-winning director Michael Moore examines the Bush administration's financial ties to Saudi Arabia and the bin Laden family in FAHRENHEIT 9/11, a well-researched, fast-paced, highly controversial, and important documentary that won the Palme d'Or at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. Using actual footage and declassified documents, Moore takes a detailed look into political events both before and after the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, beginning with the polarizing Supreme Court decision that ultimately gave the state of Florida and the 2000 election to George W. Bush. Moore reveals how the U.S. government helped the bin Laden family return to Saudi Arabia immediately after September 11, when all other flights were still grounded; and examines military recruiting techniques in such poor areas as his own hometown of Flint, Michigan. He even attempts to get congressmen to enlist their own sons and daughters into the military. The writer-director also visits with the troops, including at a VA hospital where soldiers are having second thoughts about America's involvement in Iraq, and spends time with a family whose eldest son is fighting in Iraq. FAHRENHEIT 9/11 is a worthy successor to Moore's previous documentaries, ROGER & ME, THE BIG ONE, and BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE, once again shining a light on the past, present, and future of the United States.

A film that encapsulates a significant turning point in America's history
Sure, politically, it's most definitely biased to appeal to those of a more liberal persuasion, which is no bad thing if you happen to be liberal, but I still think this film is expertly done. I mean, let's face it, which film captured the public's disillusionment with the Iraq War and the Bush administration more than this?
For this reason, Fahrenheit 9/11 will be remembered for years to come - it will encapsulate a significant turning point in America's history, a time when people finally began to become more politically aware and inquisitive. So despite the questionable evidence this film occasionally presents the viewer, it opens doors to uncovering the truth for ourselves (which, ultimately, is far more satisfying).
Fahrenheit 9/11, for me, was a catalyst - it inspired and encouraged me to make myself more knowledgeable, and it doesn't take anyone of any political persuasion to see the value in that. This is a remarkable documentary, and it will be remembered for years to come. If you haven't seen it by now, please do. You won't regret it.

i never knew so much about the links between the usa and obama this is indeed a surprise and a real thought provoking film.
highly recommended
This is really a totally new experience. Michael Moore has invented a new cinematographic genre mixing humour and personal opinion with highly researched facts and blending it all in an interesting and very enjoyable film.
Too many critise the apparently low-class type of humour/approach which hides in fact very detailed and thorough research, political courage and exceptional exercize of citizenship rights and responsibilities.
Quite remarkable and enjoyable.
