Almost absolutely perfect
Apart from a joke about giving a urine sample at the police station, that's a rip-off of a gag which had previously been used in an episode of Porridge, this is a perfect comedy treat. The idea that a man flat-sharing with women is shocking/daring is dated now, of course, but the scripts and fine acting shine through. 4 series in, Man About The House was still fresh and filled with top one-liners/punchlines. Paula Wilcox looks even more naturally gorgeous than in Series 1. And the show has loads of warmth too. Buy it. Enjoy it.

Beans, beans, chunky chicken...!
After the slightly weaker efforts of series 3, Man about the House returns to top form in this excellent release.

As usual, Richard O'Sullivan is a happy & energetic lead; his bubbling enthusiasm lifts the mood of the show an extra notch. The sharp Chrissy (Paula Wilcox) and ditzy Jo (Sally Thomsett) also play their parts to perfection. In addition, less Larry and a little more of the George & Mildred characters help to balance out the stories without abandoning the initial premise.

Series 4 contains some classic 'MATH' episodes including the driving lesson (involving 'beans, beans, chunky chicken' and a wonderful court scene) and George's wig.

In these days of alternative, post-watershed, disfunctional family sitcoms, it's a real treat to sit down to something unashamedly simple and funny that the whole family can watch. Highly recommended to those who enjoy a good laugh.
