WHAT CAN I SAY
Laptop worked for 1 month then ceased functioning. Worse still could not back any data up as laptop overheated when trying to do anything as ambitious as burning data.
Sony helpdesk v.poor and did not seem to want to talk to me at all. But for John Lewis I would probably stil be waiting on Sony now. As it was took 3 months for Sony to fail to repair laptop aeventually got a refund. Bought Toshiba as replacement - absolutely fine and their helpdesk have been v.helpfull.
GOD AWEFUL!
After owning this laptop for just over a year now, I am in a better position to give a more accurate review. And frankly I am very dissappointed. I willl list all the problems that have occured with this laptop - please bear in mind that I do not abuse this laptop it is well looked after and whenever I take it out the house it is in a protective bag. The following problems have occured with this laptop during my ownership:
-Media center remote ceased to function
-Screw FELL OUT of the bottom casing causing a pice of trim to fall loose which I have had to tape back into place.
-Rubber feet have all but one fallen off.
-Screen surround rubs against keyboard area when closed causing scratches.
-Side trim does not fit properly.
-Side Trim eventually came loose.
-Panel mounted eject button stopped working.
-SD card readed ceased functioning
-Paint around SD card holder and internet/bluetooth switch is flaking off.
-Mute button does not always work.
-Most annoyingly the hinge snapped - The METAL hinge snapped when I was opening it one day - a mechanic put this down to metal fatigue.
-Loose trim on panel.
Is this really acceptable on a what was £1500 laptop that is one year old? When I wrote to sony - there response is "your Laptop is out of warranty so we are unwilling to fund the repair" the cost of just getting the hinge fixed is over £100! never mind the rest of it! I will offer you one piece of advice - AVOID THIS LAPTOP AND ALL SONY PRODUCTS, they really do seem to have a quality control problem at the moment - stick to Samsung, Apple, LG, Panasonic etc.
if your in the design business then this is the idea note book for you!
. i use auto-cad most of the time and find the screen amazing (built in full hd)1080. Then, After a hard days work i then can plug in a cable connection and watch tv on my notebook.
