DVD Description
Here’s a delightful animated film based on the popular children’s book about a young girl named Tilly who visits the zoo and accidentally drops her teddy bear into the bear exhibit. That night, Tilly cries herself to sleep, only to wake and find a huge polar bear standing before her ... as he gently presents her with her beloved teddy bear.

So begins a magical friendship with humorous complications -- primarily, how does Tilly keep such an outsized pet hidden from her parents? But another visitation changes Tilly’s life again when the Bear hears the call of the wild from the Spirit of The Great Bear Constellation in the sky. The two companions embark on an extraordinary Christmas adventure as the Bear seeks to find his true place in life. This heartwarming, beautifully rendered tale from the creators of THE SNOWMAN brings home to children a message of love, friendship, and giving.

Synopsis
From the imagination of writer Raymond Briggs, the creator of THE SNOWMAN and WHEN THE WIND BLOWS comes this charming tale of a girl and the friendship she shares with a lonely bear.

From The Snowman to The Bear5
The story really began in 1978 with Raymond Briggs' wonderful book 'The Snowman'.

The nation then embraced 'The Snowman' animated film back in 1982.
It has become the definitive christmas classic ever since with nothing to distract you...

Until 1999; When 'The Bear' was released.

This utterly captivating film uses the same 'coloured pencil' type of animation, once again to amazing effect!

This time the story tells of a little girl and her magical friendship with a Polar Bear. With even more amazing special animation effects, this film takes us further than before.

Absolutely heartwarming, with a powerful score. An amazing song voiced by the (Then) young Charoltte Church.

Another christmas classic then?
Absolutely!!!

The Bear5
A charming story, the DVD and book together are a great hit with a 3 year old

Amazing winter tale.5
Very amusing story which everyone can enjoy. Whatever age you are it will make you smile. Imagine a little girl trying to sneak a polar bear around her house without her parents noticing.

Unlike "The Snowmnan", "The Bear" doesn't have a theme song to become tired of. If you are like me that is a big plus. Charlotte Church sings a brief song at the end, otherwise the soundtrack is incidental.

The only downside to this DVD is that it leaves you wanting more.

(if your little one wants a polar bear of her own to snuggle, try intelex.)
