The Ultimate Dongle Free Mouse4
If you have bluetooth in your laptop you can avoid the dongles that most wireless mouse providers force you to have. Although supplied with a dongle (pre-paired so you can plugin and go without any fuss) you can connect with any bluetooth compliant laptop/desktop. It works with both mac and PC.

When pairing please remember to press the connect button on the base of the mouse the first time you set it up.

The control is incredibly smooth and accurate although it does get erratic when battery is getting low. It has the standard left and right click along with a scroll wheel which has horizontal as well as vertical scrolling (4D). There are two side buttons for additional functions. On a PC you can install the latest intellipoint software which enable programming the buttons to do extra functions such as maginify, become more precise or show open apps - much like expose on Mac.
Pressing the switch mode button allows you to flip it over and use it as a remote. Not only is this good for presentations, this works great with Windows Media Player and iTunes - you can increase/decrease volume, pause and play and skip tracks.

Range for presenter mode is good - about 10ft using built-in bluetooth or 20-30ft using the dongle. In mouse mode I've used it at about 2-3meters ok but not had any reason to use it at a greater range.

It's very compact and a joy to use. Comes with protective plastic case which also holds the dongle. On the downside the buttons don't have as positive click to them which can be annoying at first but I've gotten used to it.

I've tried my Logitech MX5000 keyboard and mouse with the bluetooth laptop and they also work very well but the size prohibits the use of it on the road and the logitech mouse seemed to work on less surfaces than the Microsoft Notebook Presenter 8000.

Would highly recommend. However, as with all bluetooth based devices there is a slight pause from when you first turn on the mouse before you can actually use it while it's detected. If that is annoying to you and you want instant response - go corded.

Proceed with Caution2
If I were you I would seriously think about your choice here.

Its an expensive mouse. Its well finished and looks and feels that part in your hand. The stainless is cool, the lazer is handy, though I wouldnt reccommend buying one just because it has one. The mouse wheel in the centre has just had no thought. Its shoody and cheap, it just feels naff really.

Im a bit of a Microsoft buff, I love all things MS, I dont know why, its just the way I am, thats why when this mouse first came to market, I just had to have it. This is the first MS product I have disliked.

Now all in all it works great. However, you are probably considering this mouse because it is bluetooth. Thats why I bought it, im sick of having to put a usb key thingy in my laptop with it sticking out spoiling the styling just to get a mouse to work, so this seemed perfect. Now if you are using your computers bluetooth module please be aware that after I move my mouse more than 6inches from the laptop I get a massive, unworkable lag, the pointer has an accuracy of about 40%, yup, from 6inches distance. Its horrible and Its not because of the laptop either. I can get a successful sync from my smartphone about 25 feet away. Every other bluetooth device works great, my dinovo edge keyboard works from what seems like miles away (ok not miles, but its a good 20 feet) However, this mouse really, in all honesty, with a bluetooth range of about 6 inches before you get MEGA lag, and it is mega... is naff... I wouldnt buy it again, I would go for the logitech vx which I have used and consider, a much better mouse all round in this price range.

Im so annoyed with it, im writing this review, just so someone else doesnt make the same mistake I did, needing a bluetooth mouse, forking out £[...]+ then having to do it all over again...

Proceed with caution.

If you present a lot get one of these5
This is a great mouse.

It is based on the small laptop form factor that works well and has the back and forward buttons that use all the time (just change the default setting for the browser experience)

I present a fair bit and apposed to getting out another usb device to move slide forward during presentations this mouse just works really well.

The range when presenting is great I can walk a long way away from the laptop and still successfully advance slides.

The laser is a bit fiddly but works when necassary. The ability to switch between presentation and mouse use if great with the button on top of the mouse - you dont accidentally press it when in use.

Battery life is actually pretty good.

You absolutley need to install the drivers to get the functionality. (you can downloand them from the microsoft.com/hardware site though if you have lost the CD :-) as we all do

accuracy is good with the new laser technology

overall really impressed - my whole team wants one now!
