depeche... better than ever...
The 'touring the angel' tour was immense running from Oct 2005 to August 2006... all the dates were sold out and showed depeche still has the pulling power of a major band even after 25 years...
This concert was filmed in Feb 2006 at Milan's Fila Forum in Italy. With 21 songs + 2 bonus tracks it is packed full of hits from the new Playing the Angel album and all the older hits even including "just cant get enough". The Martin Gore solos steal the show for me particularly the acoustic "shake the disease". The picture and sound quality are excellent and the footage is edited in such a way that you can really show how Dave works the massive crowd especially in the massive 8 min long "Never let me Down Again". The package contains 3 discs one with the concert one with a 20 min documentary, tour announcement documentary, playing the angel epk, and the touring the angel screens. The other disc is an 8 track CD containing the live versions of the tracks from "Playing the Angel". If your a fan of depeche mode you will really enjoy this. I dont know why this amazon page it doesnt tell you more about it..

The best DM live dvd by far
This is by far the most enjoyable dvd by DM. Yes i am sure that Devotional DVD and Exciter DVD were great but in terms of denstiy and powerful, it seems that this dvd is better, Anton is great for making music video but i don't think he is good for live performance as the camera angels in Devotional DVD and Exciter DVD looked plain and focus too much on the screens and stage (which he designed). Yes, i agreed with other reviewers that there're a bit too much of effect on this
dvd but that's the way of making live dvd nowadays.

However, i have to admit that the performace of 'Personal jesus','Enjoy the silence' and 'Never let me down again' these 3 all times in set list in this dvd aren't better than the versions in Exciter dvd which more enjoyable.

Great tracks : A question of time,Policy of truth,Behind the wheel,World in my eye and Walking in my shoes

Highlight : Just can't get enough and Everything counts (Remind me how great these old synth pop songs can be grown and sound so much fresh after 25 years).

100% Depeche Mode - pure pleasure!
When I received the "Touring the Angel" box set, I was afraid to play it. As a fan who was been to a concert in this tour (the concert in Sofia), I had great expectations towards this record. But now when I have seen it, I can admit with a hand on my hearth - it's worth the waiting! This is a performance, woven from synthetic sound and brightly colored lights, motion and images, frozen in time. I couldn't press "pause" even once during the concert playback! And it feels wonderful to see the smile on Dave's face while he is watching the exalted crowd, the sea of hands which waves with Dave's, the way the crowd went in silence when Dave commanded it just with a simple sign - a finder in front of his lips. He is in control, everyone follows. The band seems to enjoy the concert as much as the crowd does.

And a little more information for the box set itself - it contains 2 DVD disks and 1 audio CD, as well as a booklet with tour photos. The first DVD contains the record of the concert in Milan plus two bonus tracks - "A question of lust" and "Damaged people". The second DVD disk contains 20 minute documentary for the tour as well as the tour announcement video and the screens for 5 songs form the Tour. The bonus audio CD contains 8 live song performances from the same concert.
