Customer Reviews

Absent Swallows and Amazons2
My rating is for the dvd not the films, which are lovely films and well worth watching. My reason for only giving this dvd set 2 stars is that it only seems to have Railway Children on the dvd and not Swallows and Amazons. I don't know if this was just a mistake on my copy, but the case was correct, it said it should contain both films, but the actual dvd only had the one film on it. Unforunately for me, I discovered this too late to return it. Hopefully it was just a one off mistake.
I do recommend the films highly though. The Railway Children is just a lovely film and I have been addicted to the Swallows and Amazon books throughout childhood and well into adulthood!

Nostalgia for the world.5
Awwwwww! Ooooooh! A misty-eyed-Sunday-afternoon after a big roast lunch; All on one DVD. Pass the Port, Grandma. Great quality recording too. 'Sir' Bernard Cribbins is a bit overdue, if you're reading this your highness!

The Railway Children/Swallows and Amazons5
I bought this dvd for my 9 year old grand daughter, as I had recently read the Railway Children with her, and was very pleased to find it was the one I remembered from my past, with Jenny Agutter as Bobby. We both loved it, and each had tears in our eyes at the end! We are going to watch the other film next week. I am glad that these timeless children's classics are still available for anothe generation of children largely raised on WIIs and American TV programmes. carol ross
