Bigger & better than ever before
Footy management sims are kind like Marmite, you are either in the fan club and madly in love with them or you hate them with all your living soul.
IMO FIFA Manager (aka LFP Manager in France, Fussball Manager in Germany or Total Club Manager in Spain) is probably the most user friendly of all the footy management sims without selling out and just being a shell of a game that you will see through after a few hours.
Being an EA title is has all the licences that you can shake a pointy stick at (and growing, this year they added even more lower leagues from around Europe). Not only that the game also comes with a nifty and easy to use data editor so you can keep you database up to date with the latest signings or just modify the exist data as you see fit. Or if you can't be bothered with the extra hassle just download the databases that other users will modify.
The 3D engine makes this game stand out from other games in this genre but as you get engrossed into this game you will probably opt to review you matches via text or instant result mode just due to time constraints (keeping the luxury of the 3D mode for key matches).
This year you can also take control of a player in a 3D match via Player Career mode. The idea is you train him and develop his skills up until he's worthy of a slot in your starting 11. Then showcase those skills on the field by taking control of him in 3D Match Mode. Alternatively, increase your Manager Rating to control a different player every game in Match To Match mode. Toi take full advantage of this you really need a joypad and it helps if you know the FIFA action game controls as they are almost identical.
The youth squad has been bumped up as well to 4 age groups so make sure you invest in them if you want to reap the rewards later on in the game. One top-tip is when you start the game (at least in English) defalt the options to Star Ratings for the players, IMO this is a lot easier to get to grips with. The full on stats are really only for the hard core games out there.
This game really is the mutts nuts of footy management sims, get it now.
Great Once You Get To Grips With It
FIFA Manager 07 is a Great game once you get to grips with it.
It takes a day or two to work it out but once you have it is addictive!
There are thousands of teams to choose from and if you found a new club you can actully use your town to build it in.!IT EVEN HAD MY REAL MANAGER AS ONE OF MY COACHES!
The 3-D live game option is fantastic exept the commentry which is rubbish!
In all the Game is a must have for all football fans
I would recomend for ages 10+ because it is tricky
BUY IT
Hate it or Love it! I Hate it.
Hey, I was a massive fan of fifa manager 06 and as soon as I found out that this game was coming out I hurried off to my local asda and purchased this game for a retail price.
Before this I've studied the screenshots on the EA web-site and there were about 12 of them showing some new features and at the end we were promissed much more. Well, unfortunately there wasn't anything new there that wasn't on the screenshots. I was really dissapointed. It didn't improve much from 2006 version at all.
The rare leagues still have wrong league names, player names, even team names.
Comparing to 2006 version we don't even have real managers now, I was appalled that I wasn't able to compete with Greats like Jose and Sir Alex instead I saw names of Billy Bobkins and Luke McLaughlan, well I made up the names, because I don't actually remember the names. Good thing it came with a legitimate database editor this time.
Finally I thought to myself I'd be able to turn this game around and make it really fun. However you can not change team badges so the greats like CSKA Moscow would end up with stripy-red triangle for a badge and the faces and pictures are of 3-4 year ago. You can't add player pictures, team badges, fan chants, new adboards, league sponsors and badges, coaching staff and manager pictures, etc.
Worst of all when you change a league size the league doesn't appear in the selection. Oh well, never mind that, it is still ok and I was so glad to, again, find out there were no cheats to the game. However, I spent a few hours playing it and found a massive flaw in the game.
If you bid maximum ammount of money for the player and then click the change option, you change to a 0 and the player transfers for free subject to agreeying terms.
But then as all of the contracts for players are wrong I got Thierry Henry in a free transfer for Aberdeen in the start of the second season having paid him millions in signing fee. But then I thought to myself Aberdeen are currently in a massive debt. And there is no chance ever that Thierry Henry would come to Aberdeen having decided not to go to Barca earlier this season. But even then in the first place Aberdeen start off with 15mil in profit and it's quite easy to double that in a season.
But anyway I played the game without enjoying it too much. But one fine afternoon I got my internet finally back on. With the automatic update it downloaded I.E. 7 and ever since I am not able to play this game. I followed the instructions of uninstalling I.E. 7 and reinstalling I.E. 6, however it didn't work. And even then why do I have to compromise my experience on internet just to play a game.
Anyway I all forgot about it...
However I kept searching for a solution to my problem and was appalled when I found that "The Dirrty Greasy ..." People from EA germany have launched an expansion pack to the game called "EXTRA TIME". I appeal to you all not to purchase this game or the expansion pack.
P.S. This game is not better than the previous one but even worse. There aren't any significant changes to it and if you download the database editor for fifa manager 06 you can make it just as good as this one. It is too easy to win, takes up a lot of fun, if takes ~30 minutes to watch one game and you don't even realise that it takes about 1hr 30min-2hr to actually reach the first league match.
