Forget it !
One of those purchases that turned out to be a big mistake.
The picture quality is just about adequate but very soft and looses definition unless you are looking straight at it.
The main problem is the far from adequate sound quality which makes it almost impossible to listen to through the built in speakers. It reminds me of the sort of sound that you used to get through a cheap portable transistor radio 25 years ago. Yes it is that bad.
The built in DVD wont play some pre recorded discs and causes confusion by the need to insert the disc, apparantly the wrong side up.
The remote is almost impossible to use if you need to wear glasses to read. The functions are not laid out in a logical fashion and in fact defy logic in the way that certain functions eg input choice, are selected. I would consider myself to be quite a technical person but it needed a call to the helpline to figure out how to choose the DVD function.
All in all, I would say save your money and invest in a product that does the job instead.
Great value
I read previous reviews and was still confused but I risked it. I think the picture quality is fantastic, so clear at all angles. I have it on my daughter's bedroom wall. The sound is a little unusual, this may be because we are so used to dolby surround sound nowadays, but you get used to it. Fantastic for the money
Actually the sound can be set
So I read the reviews on amazon, about this being a second tv, and the varied opinions on the sound. Took a chance and bought it, the sound isn't too great. But then when watching a dvd i pressed the wrong button (had the remote upside down) and chanced upon 4th row from bottom of remote, left hand side "setup tv/text".
This resulted in a new menu coming up, pressed down a few times, and could change the sound from mono to stereo. Sound is much better now.
The TV itself has an adequate picture, and a nice flat screen and isn't too heavy.
For the price you can't go wrong.
