Great value
I bought this portable dvd player to keep me entertained during my frequent stays in hospital. It's been a terrific purchase.

I'm very pleased with the picture and sound quality - both clear and crisp. I also like the design of the player itself, which looks stylish, and I love the dinky remote control unit. Setting the player up to play multi region discs was easy - even for a non-techie like me - and meant that I could play all the dvd's that I had bought in the US.

Overall, this dvd player is great value for money. My only gripe is that there isn't a case included in the price; I bought a case separately to protect this little beauty from stratches.

Function, value - and style
I bought this for my 4 girls, the youngest of whom is 4. An earlier player I had bought did not have a Fast Forward button on the player - just on the remote. As all kids have a hard time finding remotes, they could not skip on to the stage of the movie they wanted, without it.

The Philips PET706 has that all-important FFWD ->| key and I am delighted with the purchase - great screen, good value and classy looking too.

The final bonus - able to watch the occasional US DVD (Region 1) by following the simple steps needed to set the PET706 to Region free. Codes in one of the earlier reviews (and also easily found on the Internet) worked first time.

Liked it so much, I will probably buy a second one - just to stop them fighting over the first one. Recommended!
