Editorial Reviews

CD Description
Anyone who couldn't see that Robert Plant was returning back to his bombastic Zeppelin roots on his 1988 release, NOW &ZEN, definitely got the hint on his fifth solo release two years later, MANIC NIRVANA. Sonically, the album was Plant'smost rock-based solo release yet, with weighty guitar riffsserving as the basis for many of the songs.
While there's no mistaking MANIC NIRVANA for a Zep album (the productionis a lot cleaner here than on their past classics), it was a welcome return back to the type of music that made a name for Plant in the first place. Tracks such as "Hurting Kind (I've Got My Eyes on You)", "Nirvana", and "Tie Dye on the Highway" are pure hard rockers. Other highlights include "Anniversary" (which harkens back to Plant's earlier solo work), and the Middle Eastern-tinged "Watching You".

Customer Reviews

his best solo album5
sure its not very zeppelin, sure its got some 80s synth instruments which sound a little dated now. but percy is in fabulous voice, and when it all comes together - as it does, on more than half the tracks - its quite stunning. put it this way - i bought this on cassette the week it came out, and some 5 or 6 years later, when i was still listening to it, i upgraded to CD. there are not many albums you can say that about.

Superb Solo Album5
Superb! Mesmerising voice, breathtaking melodies and incredible energy. Pure Joy. It is difficult to say which track is better. I would say the track "Anniversary" is a bit paler compared to the other ones but still the rest is just perfect.

Another average album3
This album is better than the previous ones, but falls again in the average rate, nothing powerfull here, except the last music "Watching You" that makes the difference, its the only brilliant song here. "Fate of Nations" is far superior than this one
