Don't leave your digital photos unseen4
This product is great for displaying all those hundreds of digital photos you have stored on your PC, that you might just otherwise forget. The recent updates seem to have ironed out a lot of the issues talked about here and can be found easily on the philips website.

Just shove in a memory card and see all the pictures displayed, on the 7" display, which is an appropriate size, and very clear. If you don't use or like memory cards, you can connect anything that looks like a mass storage device to windows using the usb leads supplied, and it will read the photos from it directly.

Only displays JPEGs - not an issue for me.

Brightness is ok, but you might want to brighten some of your more darker pictures. This is not a fault of the unit (it is an issue with any lcd display, and this is better than most). You can adjust the brightness, but this just alters the backlight, and you might want to change the "brightness/contrast" of the photo itself, before putting it on the memory card to display. It would be nice to have seen this as a feature on the photo frame itself (perhaps a gamma correction factor to all photos displayed). Having said all this, it is fairly well tuned to how our picture look when printed out (i.e. if they are too dark on the display, they will be too dark when printed out).

Slide show automatically rotates pictures (adding black bars), but if you manually browse the images, it won't and you just physically rotate the display accordingly. This is a great idea. The battery works for long enough to pass around friends, but really you want to run this connected to the mains, so make sure you have a socket nearby.

One of the best frames around4
This is the second frame i have had, the other could play mp3 and video however the picture quality was rubbish also ended up not using it for playing mp3 or video just piccies so sold it on, the quality of the pictures on the philips are excellant. The ease of use is excellant, though the price is a bit steep but i am that impressed have bought one for the rest of the family. I see my wedding pictures/honeymoon pictures/holiday pictures/kids pictures everyday without lugging out albums or looking for cds where i put the pictures on. The other reviews have said it all really, just a few pros and cons as there is with everything.

PROS - Bright screen, easy to use, timer on/off, effects, slideshow, picture time, reads of sd card, looks great

cons/points - rechargable batt 40-50mins a bit of waste this day an age you can get batts that last longer why not put one in especially at the price, would have also liked to see either blue tooth/wireless for even greater scope for transfering pictures from phone or laptops

Overall it does what it says and is a brilliant way to see your digital photos/or scan you old ones, without dusting off the old albums. For more photos get an sd card and youll be well away.

Excellent, but with a few niggles4
Excellent digital photo frame -exceptionally bright and sharp images.
Looks great - definitely '2nd generation iMac'. Easy to use navigation - helped by 'prompts' on the screen in front of each button.

Minor niggles. Only has room for around 50 photo's internally so use of a memory card crucial, but this has limitations:
If you switch on the display with the card inserted it just copies as many images as it can to its internal memory then only displays those. Only way I have been able to find of getting it to run a slideshow from the card is to remove and re-insert it (which you have to repeat every time the display gets switched off).
Also note that it will not rotate photo's on a card in the way it will for those in the internal memory so 'portrait' photo's are not useable directly.
Also useful to know that it displays the photos in the order in which you copy them to the memory card, not in order of name etc.
Hopefully the limitations can be tackled in a future firmware update, but anyway still the best price/performance digital photo display I have seen.
