Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Outside of Shrek and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, few kiddie flicks have fed a need to hear certain songs again as effectively. That's in part because of "Song of the Heart," a suitably frisky Prince number you won't find anywhere else. But it also has something to do with the efforts of some unlikely performers. Who knew Brittany Murphy could sing? "Boogie Wonderland," her cover of the '70s classic, crackles with big-voiced confidence, and "Somebody to Love," another classic cover, claws listeners in by the flipper-ful. Even Robin Williams' typically manic "My Way (a Mi Manera)" isn't without its charms. Nicole Kidman's "Kiss" mashed with Hugh Jackman's "Heartbreak Hotel" may be among the disc's weaker moments, but the grown-ups will like it that way--with their kind of star wattage, they're already stealing enough shows. And there's plenty to focus on besides them: standouts include Pink's untethered rendition of "Tell Me Something Good," K.D. Lang's beautiful Beatles medley "Golden Slumbers/The End," and the Beach Boys' underappreciated gem, "Do It Again." --Tammy La Gorce

Happy Feet Soundtrack5
After one listen of this CD, the Happy Feet Soundtrack gained the honour of being on the top of my CD rack, that is to say... this compilation of songs is simply brilliant.

Whilst most CDs, even compialtions, try and stick within a boundary, a set genre that restricts them, Happy Feet on the other hand does not, making for an exciting and most definately varied listen. Whether it be the pounding beat of 'Jump N' Move' by The Brand New Heavies, the classic rock of the Beach Boys' 'Do It Again', or even the silky smooth vocals of Brittany Murphy, there is a song for everyone on this CD.

I was surprised by my immediate taking to the CD. Normally, there is a delay between which I listen to an album and when I finally get to appreciate the songs, but with the Happy Feet soundtrack, that reaction came as soon as Prince started to sing those first few lines of 'The Song of the Heart'.

It is surprising to find an animated film with such a 'grown up' and well weathered soundtrack, which sadly is not the case for more 'conventional' animated films that target only the childrens market. One other thing I might add is that all of these songs are just as good as 'stand alone' songs, as they are in accompaniment to the Happy Feet feature film. What I mean by this is that songs like 'Boogie Wonderland', which is an integral part of Happy Feet in the movie, is just as good when played on its own. Which can't be said for some soundtacks off films, which can become unbearable without seeing the relevant part of the film at the same time.

There are a few regrets though.. Gia Ferrell's 'Hit Me Up' can become tiresome after about two listens. The other songs however have a timeless quality so that one can listen to them all day if one wished so. Another problem I have with the soundtrack is the excellent 'Candela', performed by 'Da Madd Dominikans' is missing from the soundtrack. I am referring to the song where *spoilers* Mumble and the Adelies are dancing on the mountain top, before Mumble falling off due to the ice breaking.

Don't let these bad points put you off however, as this CD certainly gives you your money's worth, thanks to it's excellent range of genres and styles... plus, you get to hear Robin Williams sing 'My Way' in Spanish, priceless.

Excellent Film - Excellent Soundtrack5
Just seen the film.
Great story more than boosted by the songs and music.
Will be adding this CD to my collection ASAP.
Who can resist Robin Williams singing 'My Way' in Spanish!?

NOT MUSIC OF SOUNDTRACK1
I feel totally ripped off by the advertisement of "Music from the Motion Picture"and then listed as music from the soundtrack IT IS NOT MUSIC FROM THE SOUNDTRACK BUT A CMPILATION OF MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE and is so totally different from the original music that I want to vomit by the misleading information and the implications Almost enough for a legal case
